Why? Flu generally starts to spread as the weather cools down, partially because the influenza virus has a protective coating that needs cold temperatures to stay intact.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n The idea is to be protected from the virus before that happens, and it takes about two weeks after you\u2019ve received the shot for the body to build up its protective store of antibodies.
