The 18-year-old was officially diagnosed when she was 16, after years of thinking her symptoms were just a part of regular life. After seeing a story about someone else with the same symptoms, Emma did some research. She found the ice cube test, where an ice cube is placed on the skin for five minutes to test for a reaction. \u201cMost people will just turn red, or be a little numb. The thought of doing burpees for 12 hours straight would be insane to most but that\u2019s not stopping a Montreal man from trying.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Samuel Finn will attempt to do just that TODAY when he\u2019ll try to complete 5,300 chest-to-ground burpees in half a day. If he succeeds, he\u2019ll nab the Guinness World Record for most burpees in 12 hours. Last month, he completed 2,179 burpees in five hours, his \u201clast big challenge\u201d after about six months of training for the big day.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The attempt is being done in memory of his brother Cedric, who was diagnosed in 2017 with a rare and aggressive soft tissue cancer. He died nine months later at the age of 27. Finn started a hashtag and website for the attempt dubbed BURPEES4CED and says he\u2019s raised some $38,000 for cancer research.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The current record Finn will attempt to crush Friday is 5,010 burpees in 12 hours, which a Michigan man completed in October. It won\u2019t be easy. Jean-Francois Gaudreau, the owner of\u00a0the\u00a0gym where Finn will make his record attempt, has faith but was blunt about what it takes to accomplish Finn\u2019s goal.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou need to be crazy to do burpees for 12 hours,\u201d said Gaudreau. \u201cIt\u2019s super intense because it\u2019s the same movement\u2026 It\u2019s super long.
