{"id":14051,"date":"2020-03-29T16:15:09","date_gmt":"2020-03-29T20:15:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/briwebapp.net\/cfcofm\/?p=14051"},"modified":"2020-03-29T16:15:09","modified_gmt":"2020-03-29T20:15:09","slug":"joe-diffie-dies-of-covid-19","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/briwebapp.net\/cfcofm\/blogs\/country-music-news\/2020\/03\/joe-diffie-dies-of-covid-19\/","title":{"rendered":"Joe Diffie Dies Of COVID-19"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"video-shortcode embed-container\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"YouTube video player\" width=\"610\" height=\"355\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/9I51JXpcLwk\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/div>\n<p>Joe Diffie passed away on Sunday, March 29 at the age of 61 after being diagnosed with coronavirus (COVID-19) last week.<\/p>\n<p>Born Dec. 28, 1958, Diffie moved to Nashville as a demo session singer in the 1980s was signed to the Nashville division of Epic in 1990 and released his debut album the end of that year.<\/p>\n<p>He charted more than 30 singles, including &#8220;Ships That Don&#8217;t Come In,&#8221; &#8220;Prop Me Up Beside The Jukebox (If I Die),&#8221; &#8220;If The Devil Danced (In Empty Pockets),&#8221; &#8220;Honky Tonk Attitude,&#8221; &#8220;Third Rock From The Sun,&#8221; &#8220;Bigger Than The Beatles,&#8221; &#8220;John Deere Green&#8221; and &#8220;Pickup Man.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Diffie won an ACM Award for his work as part of George Jones&#8217; Vocal Event of the Year, &#8220;I Don&#8217;t Need Your Rockin&#8217; Chair,&#8221; and he won a Grammy Award for his 1998 collaboration with Marty Stuart on &#8220;Same Old Train.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>He was inducted as a member of the Grand Ole Opry in 1993.
