The physical benefits are thought to stem from heat-induced increases in heart rate and blood flow. The Lead researcher said that saunas aren\u2019t a direct replacement for workouts: \u201cIt is a kind of third factor in addition to diet and exercise,\u201d he says.<br \/>\n______________________________________________________________________________<\/p>\n<p>There&#8217;s a 52-year-old woman named Diane Tirado, and she&#8217;s been a teacher for almost two decades. She started working as an eighth grade social studies teacher in Port St. Lucie, Florida this school year.Well . . . at the beginning of the year, she gave her class an assignment and they had 2 weeks, but some of them didn&#8217;t turn anything in . . . so Diane gave them zeroes. And . . . earlier this month, she got FIRED for it.<br \/>\nIt turns out the school has a policy that says the lowest grade a teacher can give a student is 50%. The school is standing by her firing. Riley went to #1 with &#8220;Harper Valley P.T.A.&#8221;<br \/>\n______________________________________________________________________________<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>TODAY\u2019S GOOD NEWS<br \/>\nJoel Alsup and Lindsey Wilkerson are both childhood cancer survivors. They&#8217;re in their late-30s now, but met 25 years ago while they were both being treated at St. Jude&#8217;s Children&#8217;s Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee.<\/p>\n<p>Lindsey had leukemia. Joel had bone cancer in his right arm, which eventually had to be amputated. But they both survived and now WORK at the hospital.<\/p>\n<p>And earlier this month, they also got MARRIED at the hospital.<\/p>\n<p>Joel asked Lindsey out after they started working together. And they got married at the hospital on September 1st, which was also the first day of Childhood Cancer Awareness Month.<\/p>\n<p>Their wedding party was filled with more childhood cancer survivors. A new study on sleep patterns found those with irregular sleep patterns weighed more, had higher blood sugar, higher blood pressure, and higher projected risk of having a heart attack or stroke within ten years compared to those who slept and woke at the same times every day.<\/p>\n<p>Those with irregular sleep patterns were also more likely to report depression and stress, both of which are tied to heart health.<\/p>\n<p>Researcher Dr. Jessica Lunsford-Avery explains, &#8220;From our study, we can&#8217;t conclude that sleep irregularity results in health risks, or whether health conditions affect sleep. Perhaps all of these things are impacting each other.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>______________________________________________________________________________<\/p>\n<p>Want to Save Money on Groceries and Lose Weight?<br \/>\nA professional dietician came up with a bunch of tips on how to save money at the grocery store AND lose weight.<\/p>\n<p>Some of them are things you&#8217;ve heard before, like stick to your list . . . plan out your meals . . . and don&#8217;t be afraid of frozen fruits and veggies, because they&#8217;re just as good.<\/p>\n<p>But here&#8217;s one you might not know: If you want to save money and eat healthier, the easiest way to do it is by sticking to the PERIMETER of the store, and avoiding as many aisles as possible.<\/p>\n<p>The outer edge of a grocery store tends to be where they keep most of the fresh foods . . . things like milk, eggs, cheese, bread, and produce. And most of the processed foods are in the aisles.<\/p>\n<p>Unless you get really hardcore about it, you probably won&#8217;t be able to skip every aisle. But that&#8217;s okay. Just changing up your shopping strategy can help.<\/p>\n<p>Instead of zig-zagging your way up and down the aisles, try going AROUND the store.<\/p>\n<p>Then if you need to go down an aisle to grab something, go for it. A woman in North Dakota started hanging up her Halloween decorations last weekend, and it only took an hour or two for someone to CALL 911 because of them. She had hung up a sign saying &#8220;Help Me,&#8221; which looked like it was written in blood. And then she went out to dinner without hanging up the rest of the decorations. The guy who made the call happens to be a radio DJ named Jay Thomas, at WDAY in Fargo.<\/p>\n<p>4. Math homework can be daunting, but it\u2019s not really an emergency. The Fort Collins Police Department (in Colorado) shared audio from a 9-1-1 call placed by a ten-year-old boy who needed help with his math homework on their Facebook page.
