I was trying to be something I wasn&#8217;t.&#8221;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Chase is best known for his 2014 and 2015 hits &#8220;Take It on Back&#8221; and &#8220;Little Bit of You.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Four years ago, he had had enough, telling the magazine that he was tired of being told what to do, of not feeling good enough, and tired of &#8220;being someone he was not.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Chase said he went to a gas station in Nashville, left a long goodbye note on the seat of his truck and put his loaded .357 revolver to his head.<\/p>\n<p>He pulled the trigger, but nothing happened.<\/p>\n<p>After checking the chamber, he realized the gun had only five bullets in it, not six.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>&#8220;So, when I looked at it at that moment, it was like, life&#8217;s too short, don&#8217;t make it any shorter. It ain&#8217;t worth it. We all have something to be thankful for, right? Looking back at it now, it&#8217;s so weird.
