Imagery<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The company that controls the\u00a0<\/span><b>Dr. Seuss<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u00a0catalog has decided to\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/dr-seuss-books-racist-images-d8ed18335c03319d72f443594c174513\"><b>pull<\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u00a0six of his books, because they contain images of Asians and Africans that they say &#8220;portray people in ways that are hurtful and wrong.&#8221;<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The six are:\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><b><i>&#8220;And to Think That I Saw It on Mulberry Street&#8221;<\/i><\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u00a0(1937),\u00a0<\/span><b><i>&#8220;McElligot&#8217;s Pool&#8221;<\/i><\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u00a0(1947),\u00a0<\/span><b><i>&#8220;If I Ran the Zoo&#8221;<\/i><\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u00a0(1950),\u00a0<\/span><b><i>&#8220;Scrambled Eggs Super!&#8221;<\/i><\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u00a0(1953),\u00a0<\/span><b><i>&#8220;On Beyond Zebra!&#8221;<\/i><\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u00a0(1955), and\u00a0<\/span><b><i>&#8220;The Cat&#8217;s Quizzer&#8221;<\/i><\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u00a0(1976).<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The existing stock of these books is\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/variety.com\/2021\/digital\/news\/dr-seuss-books-amazon-best-sellers-1234919873\/\"><b>selling<\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u00a0like hot-cakes on Amazon, and people are already trying to capitalize on the hysteria . . . offering to sell THEIR copies for\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxbusiness.com\/politics\/dr-seuss-books-canceled-worth-online-sales\"><b>THOUSANDS<\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u00a0of dollars.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Dr. Seuss Enterprises says they made this determination after consulting with educators.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Those who are obsessed with &#8220;cancel culture&#8221; . . . both in favor and against it . . . are fixated on the idea that Dr. Seuss is suddenly &#8220;racist,&#8221; but that&#8217;s not what Dr. Seuss Enterprises is saying.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">They say it&#8217;s about protecting and preserving Dr. Seuss&#8217; legacy and relevance for generations to come.\u00a0 They add, quote, &#8220;Ceasing sales of these books is only part of our commitment and our broader plan to ensure [the] catalog represents and supports all communities and families.&#8221;<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The thinking is that these books contain outdated depictions that come across differently today than they were intended when they were originally published.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">For what it&#8217;s worth, Dr. Seuss&#8217; She shared a picture of herself receiving the injection, as well as a video encouraging everyone to get the vaccine on social media. Moderna is the vaccine that researchers at Vanderbilt were working on thanks in part to Dolly&#8217;s $1 million donation last year.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">In the photo, Dolly is getting the vaccine from her friend and Vanderbilt researcher\u00a0<\/span><b>Dr. Naji Abumrad<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">. She captioned it with, \u201cDolly gets a dose of her own medicine.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The video also shows Dolly getting the shot, and asking others to do the same.
