\u27a2<\/span> A Toronto man may have come up with the solution to \u201cporch pirates\u201d stealing packages from front doors. Eric Martin has invented a piece of patio furniture that also works as a safe for parcel deliveries. He says the \u201cBoxr bench\u201d is a multifunctional bench with secure storage, that helps homeowners to receive deliveries without compromising curb appeal. When an online shopper places an order, they give the company an access code, which the courier uses to open the safe and leave the parcel.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u27a2<\/span> An entrance to a Toronto subway station was temporarily closed due to some wandering wildlife. In this case a beaver.<\/span><\/p>\n

According to the Toronto Transit Commission (TTC), the beaver strolled into Royal York Subway Station on Bloor Street, near the Humber Marshes, early Thursday morning.<\/span><\/p>\n

A transit user captured a photo of the beaver at the Grenview entrance and\u00a0<\/span>posted it to Twitter<\/span><\/a>. The TTC says the city, police and animal control were notified.<\/span><\/p>\n

“For all those wondering, Rascal, the Royal York beaver, is safe and with animal services,” TTC spokesperson Stuart Green added.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u27a2<\/span> Last year, a couple in Riverside, California cashed out their life savings to buy a house for $560,000.\u00a0 But they still haven’t moved in, because the previous owner is\u00a0<\/span>squatting<\/span><\/a>\u00a0there and won’t leave.\u00a0 And they can’t kick him out because of a loophole in the COVID eviction bans.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u27a2<\/span> Last week, a teacher in New York who almost died of COVID at the start of the pandemic\u00a0<\/span>went back<\/span><\/a>\u00a0to the hospital that treated him.\u00a0 And he got to see all the doctors and nurses who saved his life.\u00a0 His name is Tyrone John, and he’s only 39.\u00a0 He was the first COVID patient they had to intubate, and he was in a coma for three weeks.\u00a0 But then he recovered, and became their first critically ill patient to beat the virus and go home.<\/span><\/p>\n

A Guy Used His Debit Card to Break into a House . . . and Left It Behind<\/b><\/p>\n

A 30-year-old guy named James Tanner from Alpena, Michigan broke into a house back on Halloween.<\/span><\/p>\n

He used his own DEBIT CARD to force open the lock . . . and then, he accidentally left it behind.\u00a0 And yes, it had his name right there on it, so the cops could use it to identify him.<\/span><\/p>\n

I’m not sure what took so long, but a warrant for him was finally issued earlier this month.\u00a0 The cops tracked him down . . . already in jail on some unrelated charges.<\/span><\/p>\n

He’s been charged with second-degree home invasion. \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

BANK ACCIDENTALLY SENDS MAN REPLACEMENT DEBIT CARD EVERY FEW DAYS<\/b><\/p>\n

You know your bank will send you a new debit card if yours is about to expire, but they usually only send you one. A man on Reddit says his bank actually sent him 64 copies of the same debit card. He shared a photo of all the cards, still attached to letters from the Premium Members Credit Union. He explained, \u201cBack in December, I started receiving replacement debit cards. They\u2019d show up one or two at a time every few days. I\u2019ve called my bank several times but the card issuance is handled by a third party. The only difference between each card is the expiration date (and I assume CVV), which are sequential. The first card expires 12\/23 and the last expires 04\/30 with every card in between, although I seem to be missing 07\/29.\u201d He added that now he thinks the issue may have now been resolved as he cancelled the card and hasn\u2019t received any more duplicates in over a week.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

            PSYCHOLOGISTS SAY TOXIC POSITIVITY IS ON THE RISE\u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n

            Ignoring tough emotions and acting happy all the time is called \u201ctoxic positivity,\u201d and it\u2019s not great for your mental health. John-Paul Davies is a psychotherapist, and explains, \u201cToxic positivity is going straight to those feelings that we naturally want more of, like joy and happiness, and wanting to bypass the emotions that are more difficult to sit with.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

            The reasons there\u2019s a toxicity to it is that feelings are responses to things that are happening around us, so they need to be given space. Chartered psychologist, Dr. Lynda Shaw, adds, \u201c[\u2026] there\u2019s no such thing as good and bad feelings.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

            All emotional states are valuable to our human experience, and anxiety, anger, and fear are primitive ways of keeping us safe and well.\u201d In other words, telling someone to \u201clook at the bright side\u201d when they are dealing with appropriate and understandable difficult feelings is harmful.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

                    Efforts are continuing today to try to free a huge cargo ship that’s stuck across\u00a0Egypt’s Suez Canal, affecting global shipping as other vessels aren’t able to pass through the canal\u00a0in either direction.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

                    At least 150 other ships were waiting for the Japanese-owned\u00a0ship Ever Given to be freed so that they could proceed.
