Hundreds of Canadians are among the victims of the so-called &#8220;CRA scam,&#8221; and their combined losses \u2014\u00a0from just two of the raided offices \u2014\u00a0are likely to be at least in the hundreds of thousands of dollars.<\/p>\n<p>Police say they arrested 28 people in just one of their sweeps, including two seen as the kingpins of the operation. Most are in their twenties.<\/p>\n<p>They are expected to face fraud-related charges, which could result in jail time.<\/p>\n<p>Dozens of scam centres are believed to still be active in multiple cities across India, each with independent managers and using their own technology to evade detection.<\/p>\n<p>Though the scam itself has existed in India for close to a decade, these sorts of police raids are exceedingly rare. The October arrests mark the first in two years.<\/p>\n<p><strong>______________________________________________________________________________<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Two weeks ago, someone in Kansas City, Missouri stole a GIANT INFLATABLE COLON.<\/p>\n<p>Yes, it&#8217;s a 10-foot, 150-pound, pink inflatable replica of the human colon, and it belongs to a nonprofit called the Colon Cancer Coalition out of Minnesota.<\/p>\n<p>They ship it around the country to cancer walks and other events to help get people talking about colon cancer. UPDATE\u2026..<\/p>\n<p>A tip led officers to the inflatable intestine prop at a vacant house. So why do we do this?<\/p>\n<p>\u2713 The idea of \u2018Daylight Saving Time\u2019 was 1st proposed in 1895 by New Zealand entomologist George Vernon Hudson, and although people were interested, it never caught on.<\/p>\n<p>\u2713 In 1905, William Willett came up with the same idea in London. Why? He was an avid golfer who hated cutting short his Summer rounds on the links. Again, the idea failed to catch on.<\/p>\n<p>\u2713 The Germans and their allies were the 1st to implement Daylight Saving Time as a way of conserving coal during WW1. Britain and many other European countries followed the example.<\/p>\n<p>\u2713 The US adopted DST in 1918, but it wasn\u2019t until 1966 that the whole country observed it. All Canadian provinces were on DST by the 1970s, except parts of Saskatchewan which refuse it.<\/p>\n<p>\u2713Daylight saving time (DST) isn&#8217;t practiced everywhere in the world.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Saskatchewan as well as most of Asia and Africa as well as parts of Australia and South America don&#8217;t observe DST at all \u2014 nor do Hawaii, Arizona, or many US territories, like Guam and the US Virgin Islands<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>TODAY\u2019S GOOD NEWS<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>A guy named Albert Lexie\u00a0was\u00a0born with some developmental issues, and worked as a shoeshiner at the Children&#8217;s Hospital in Pittsburgh for over 30 years.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>He charged $5 per shine, and only made about $10,000 a year.\u00a0 But the amazing part is he never kept ANY of his tips.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>He donated every single tip to something called the Free Care Fund, which helps provide medical care to underprivileged kids.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Oprah <\/strong>did a story on him a while back.\u00a0 So did\u00a0<em><strong>&#8220;People&#8221;<\/strong><\/em>\u00a0magazine.\u00a0 And Major League Baseball honored him at the 2010 All-Star Game.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Unfortunately, we&#8217;re talking about him again now because Albert passed away last week at the age of 76. \u00a0Which was a big loss for a lot of people who loved him.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>But someone tallied up all the donations he made over the years.\u00a0 And in the end, he gave away over $200,000, or more than a third of all the money he made.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The president of the hospital says he&#8217;s the &#8220;perfect example of how small, incremental acts of kindness can impact millions of people.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><strong>______________________________________________________________________________<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><u>\u00a0<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><u>\u00a0<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><u>BIRTHDAYS<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>David Schwimmer<\/strong>\u00a0is\u00a0<strong>52<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>k.d. lang<\/strong>\u00a0is\u00a0<strong>57<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>______________________________________________________________________________<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><u>\u00a0<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><u>\u00a0<\/u><\/strong><strong><u>\u00a0<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><u>Bus Passenger: Driver Got Lost, Drove in Circles for Hours<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>A passenger says a Greyhound bus driver on a trip to New York City got lost in Cleveland and drove in circles for several hours before returning to the city&#8217;s terminal.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Arin Choo says he and other passengers began asking the driver questions when they noticed they were seeing the same sights over and over again.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Choo says the driver eventually conceded he was lost and returned to the Cleveland bus terminal, where he dropped off two passengers he claimed were disruptive.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Choo says the passengers were just trying to be helpful. &#8220;At the end of the day we can use our GPS if he needed it and why he doesn&#8217;t have GPS who knows?&#8221; a passenger notes.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The bus arrived in New York City 4.5 hours late. There&#8217;s no word which Journey album it was, or why someone sent it.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ol start=\"5\">\n<li>Would you like to own a jail?<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>The province of Ontario says they will accept the \u201cbest offer\u201d after putting a historic jail in Windsorup for sale at just $1.<\/p>\n<p>The 33,000-square-foot lockup likely won\u2019t sell for so little. Offers are being accepted until Nov. 23 when Infrastructure Ontario says they will review the bids.<\/p>\n<p>Originally constructed in 1796 and rebuilt in 1925 after a fire, the jail is in Windsor\u2019s \u201cOld Sandwich Town.\u201d And some local historians would love to see it turned into a museum.<\/p>\n<p>There have also been talks of the space being converted into a homeless shelter.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>\u00a0<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><u>\u00a0<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><u>GARTH BROOKS ANNOUNCES FIRST TWO DATES ON STADIUM TOUR &#8211; (11\/02\/2018)<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Garth Brooks\u00a0<\/strong>has officially announced the first two dates on his upcoming\u00a0<em>Stadium Tour<\/em>.
