\u27a2 <\/span>Richard Branson made his first\u00a0<\/span>space flight<\/span><\/a>\u00a0yesterday.\u00a0 He and a five-man crew went 53 miles above the Earth and achieved weightlessness for about three to four minutes.\u00a0 At 71, he’s the second-oldest man in space, after John Glenn . . . who went up in 1998 at the age of 77.\u00a0 (Here’s a clip of the space flight, along with Richard Branson’s comments once they reached space.)<\/span><\/p>\n

\u27a2 <\/span>\u00a0A hotel housekeeper may have thwarted a mass shooting at the Major League Baseball All-Star Game. Three men and a woman were arrested Friday night at the Maven Hotel in Denver . . . after the housekeeper alerted police to a large stash of guns and ammo in their room.<\/span><\/p>\n

The hotel is near Coors Field, which is the site of this year’s game.\u00a0 Festivities began yesterday, and the Home Run Derby is tonight.\u00a0 The actual All-Star Game is tomorrow night.<\/span><\/p>\n

Police confiscated 16 rifles, more than 1,000 rounds of ammo, and body armor.\u00a0 The room was on the 8th floor, and police think they could have been planning a “Las Vegas-style shooting.”<\/span><\/p>\n

\u27a2 <\/span>A father and son were\u00a0<\/span>out fishing<\/b><\/a>\u00a0off the coast of North Carolina this week when another boat almost HIT them.\u00a0 And as it was going by, they realized no one was at the wheel.\u00a0 So they thought maybe there was a medical emergency or something.<\/span><\/p>\n

They started following the boat . . . pulled up next to it . . . and the son JUMPED on board, but no one was there.\u00a0 It was a totally empty boat.\u00a0 So they figured someone fell off . . . started searching around in the open ocean . . . and FOUND the guy.\u00a0 They pulled him out of the water, and he thanked them for saving his life.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u27a2 <\/span>\u00a0Heinz Canada just launched a petition on Change.org to force companies to sell hot dogs and buns in EQUAL AMOUNTS.<\/span><\/p>\n

Hot dogs tend to come in ten-packs, and buns usually come in eight-packs.\u00a0 And they think ten should be the new standard for both.<\/span><\/p>\n

For what it’s worth, there IS a reason behind the mismatch.\u00a0 Hot dog companies started selling them in ten-packs in the 1940s, just because it’s a round number.<\/span><\/p>\n

But bun companies sell eight-packs because the standard pan they’ve always baked them in fits four buns per row.<\/span><\/p>\n

These days, they also have pans that fit five though.\u00a0 So there’s no good reason THAT can’t be the new modern standard.<\/span><\/p>\n
