The Canadian women\u2019s eight rowing team captured its first gold medal in nearly 20 years at the\u00a0<\/span>Tokyo Olympics<\/span><\/a>\u00a0Friday.<\/span><\/p>\n

Canada dominated right out of the gate, with silver medalists New Zealand unable to catch them and lagging more than a second behind throughout the race. China managed to edge out Australia for the bronze.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u27a2 <\/span>This happened last week in Montreal.\u00a0 A couple accidentally shattered the glass of a barbershop door while kissing, but they left and didn’t tell anyone.\u00a0 When the owner saw it on security cam he thought it was hilarious so he posted the video, and it went viral.\u00a0 Here’s the owner.\u00a0 (He’s <\/span>offering<\/span><\/a> to give the couple a free hotel stay if they come forward.)<\/span><\/p>\n

\u27a2 <\/span>NASA says a huge asteroid is set to pass \u201cclose\u201d to Earth on Sunday (August 1st). The 2008 GO20 asteroid is between 318 and 720 feet tall and is traveling through space at 18,000 miles per hour. The gigantic asteroid has drawn size comparisons to the Giza Pyramid and Taj Mahal.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

It is predicted to come as close to Earth as 2.8 million miles. For comparison, the Earth\u2019s moon is 238,855 miles away from the planet, while Venus is 126.11 million miles away, and Mars is 236.5 million miles away. NASA says the distance could shrink due to the gravitational pull of planets as the asteroid passes through the solar system<\/span><\/p>\n

\u27a2 <\/span>Reports show that people in Missouri are getting vaccinated\u00a0<\/span>wearing disguises<\/span><\/a>\u00a0because they’re too embarrassed to let their friends and family know they’re getting the shot.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u27a2 <\/span>A 40-year-old piece of wedding cake will hit the auction block in about two weeks . . . and it’s expected to sell for around $700.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Why?\u00a0 Because it was from the wedding of\u00a0<\/span>PRINCE CHARLES<\/b>\u00a0and\u00a0<\/span>PRINCESS DIANA<\/b>\u00a0in July of 1981.\u00a0 The slice came from one of 23 cakes that were made for the ceremony.<\/span><\/p>\n

It comes with a wedding program, ceremony details, and a breakfast menu.\u00a0 It was last sold in 2008. The auction house says, quote, “It appears to be in exactly the same good condition as when originally sold.\u00a0 But we advise against eating it.”<\/span><\/p>\n
