\u27a2 <\/span>NORM MACDONALD\u00a0<\/b>died yesterday after a nine-year battle with cancer.\u00a0 He was 61.\u00a0 Norm kept his cancer diagnosis a secret from almost everyone.\u00a0 A friend said, quote, “He never wanted the diagnosis to affect the way the audience or any of his loved ones saw him.”<\/span><\/p>\n

Norm got his break in Hollywood writing for\u00a0<\/span>“Roseanne”\u00a0<\/i><\/b>and\u00a0<\/span>“The Dennis Miller Show”\u00a0<\/i><\/b>in 1992.\u00a0 He joined\u00a0<\/span>“Saturday Night Live”\u00a0<\/i><\/b>a year later, and hosted its\u00a0<\/span>“Weekend Update”\u00a0<\/i><\/b>segment for three seasons. He had his own sitcom called \u201cNorm\u201d for 3 seasons and appeared in several movies. <\/span>The best way to remember Norm would be by playing some of his most creative stand up comedy.\u00a0 Here’s a great example.\u00a0 How people used to take pictures a long time ago.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u27a2 <\/span>The United States Postal Service is investigating a mail carrier in Maryland after being caught on camera\u00a0<\/span>throwing mail<\/span><\/a>\u00a0out of the side of the truck onto a homeowner’s front lawn.\u00a0 Here’s neighbor Ali Moran talking about the bizarre situation.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u27a2 <\/span>Sometimes things go wrong and you end up in a better place than you started. A California Chevrolet dealership let a customer trade in his 2021 C8 Corvette for a new 2022 model after a mechanic was caught driving his car 148 miles per hour in a street race earlier this month.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The 2021 car was dropped off to have a spark plug fixed, a routine affair, but the mechanic got caught racing the car due to the vehicles Performance Data Recorder (PDR) valet mode, which recorded the joyride on video.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0To make up for his employee\u2019s mistake, the owner of the dealership offered the car\u2019s owner an upgrade to a 2022 Corvette\u2014taxes included.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u27a2 <\/span>A flight attendant\u00a0<\/span>shared<\/span><\/a>\u00a0the “five things you should never do on an airplane.”\u00a0 (Some of his examples:\u00a0 “Never touch the flush button with your bare hand.\u00a0 Use a tissue or napkin.”\u00a0 Also, “Don’t wear shorts.\u00a0 It’s unsanitary.”\u00a0 “Do NOT be afraid to let your flight attendant know if you feel sick.\u00a0 We are there to help.”)<\/span><\/p>\n

\u27a2 <\/span>Billy Bob Thornton has joined the cast of the \u201cYellowstone\u201d prequel series \u201c1883,\u201d taking on a guest starring role in the Paramount+ drama. He\u2019ll play \u2018Marshal Jim Courtright\u2019, joining previously announced regulars Sam Elliott, Tim McGraw and Faith Hill. The prequel centers on an earlier generation of the Dutton family \u201cas they embark on a journey west through the Great Plains toward the last bastion of untamed America,\u201d according to the series description. 1883 will debut on Paramount+ on Dec. 19.<\/span><\/p>\n

                    Landlord finds 19 tarantulas, 1 python left behind by tenant<\/b><\/p>\n

                    A Maine landlord arranged for the rescue of 15 tarantulas and one python that had been left behind by a tenant.<\/span><\/p>\n

                    Animal rescuer Drew Desjardins was called to the apartment Wednesday in Auburn, the Sun Journal reported. He found that four of 19 tarantulas had died and that the ball python did not have water.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

                     <\/p>\n

                    Desjardins said Thursday that he took the surviving animals back to his home and that they were doing fine. All the recovered animals are illegal in Maine and will be relocated.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

                    There was no word on whether the tenant was being sought.<\/span><\/p>\n

                    INTERNET OUTAGE:<\/b>
                    \n<\/b>It sounds like science fiction, but a new study says some day, an enormous solar superstorm could knock out the internet worldwide. The paper, written by University of California assistant professor Sangeetha Abdu Jyothi, is titled \u201cSolar Superstorms:<\/span><\/p>\n

                     <\/p>\n

                    Planning for an Internet Apocalypse.\u201d It says the likelihood of a solar storm of sufficient strength to cause catastrophic disruption to the internet within the next decade is 1.6-12%. If that were to happen, submarine cables between countries would shut down, power grids would go offline, and data centres from web giants would be at risk of going dark.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

                     <\/p>\n

                    That\u2019s unless we do something about it now, of course. The study recommends we strengthen our infrastructure by doing things like laying more cables to minimize the risk of being completely cut off.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

                     <\/p>\n

                    A global shutdown plan should also be devised, which would reduce or turn off internet and power grids during a solar superstorm. Oh, and we should also make a backup system to keep the internet functioning.<\/span><\/p>\n
