last.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Things picked up with\u00a0<strong>LUKE BRYAN<\/strong>\u00a0performing\u00a0<em><strong>&#8220;What Makes You Country&#8221;<\/strong><\/em>.\u00a0 He was joined by some of country&#8217;s newer acts: \u00a0<strong>Luke Combs<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Lindsey Ell<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Cole Swindell<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Ashley pregnant\u00a0<strong>CARRIE UNDERWOOD<\/strong>\u00a0to start the monologue.\u00a0 As promised, they stayed away from politics, which may have taken the bite out of the humor, but that&#8217;s okay.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>They did &#8220;break the news&#8221; that Carrie&#8217;s having a baby boy, and had fun with it by bringing out her first-born. \u00a0But it wasn&#8217;t little Isaiah.\u00a0 It was Walmart kid\u00a0<strong>MASON RAMSEY<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>KELSEA BALLERINI\u00a0<\/strong>got theatrical for her performance of\u00a0<em><strong>&#8220;Miss Me More&#8221;<\/strong><\/em>.\u00a0 There were dancers balancing on chairs, jumping around, and doing gymnastics.\u00a0 It was visually interesting, and it worked.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>I swear Carrie Underwood could be singing WHILE giving birth and she&#8217;d still knock it out of the park.\u00a0 Her performance of\u00a0<em><strong>&#8220;Love Wins&#8221;<\/strong><\/em>\u00a0brought the crowd to its feet.\u00a0 She also won Female Vocalist of the Year and no one&#8217;s going to argue that call.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>OLD DOMINION\u00a0<\/strong>picked up their first CMA award.\u00a0 They won Vocal Group of the Year.\u00a0 It&#8217;s fun to watch artists have their first big moment.\u00a0 You could tell it meant a lot to them.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Things got as country as country could get when\u00a0<strong>RICKY SKAGGS<\/strong>\u00a0and his incredible players performed the bluegrass classic\u00a0<em><strong>&#8220;Black Eyed Susie&#8221;<\/strong><\/em>. \u00a0Then Ricky switched stages to join\u00a0<strong>KEITH URBAN\u00a0<\/strong>for\u00a0<em><strong>&#8220;Highway 40 Blues&#8221;<\/strong><\/em>.\u00a0 There was more.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Ricky went back to the first stage and did\u00a0<em><strong>&#8220;Country Boy&#8221;<\/strong><\/em>\u00a0with Brad Paisley and\u00a0<strong>MARTY STUART<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>MIDLAND\u00a0<\/strong>made their CMA debut and did a cover of\u00a0<strong>Jerry Reed&#8217;s<\/strong>\u00a0<em><strong>&#8220;East Bound and Down&#8221;<\/strong><\/em>\u00a0from\u00a0<em><strong>&#8220;Smokey and the Bandit&#8221;<\/strong><\/em>.\u00a0 They also showed clips
