By some counts, close to two-thirds of all of those butts are irresponsibly disposed of.\u00a0 According to NBC News, more cigarette butts are collected by cleanup groups on beaches worldwide than plastic wrappers, containers, bottle caps, eating utensils, and bottles combined.<\/p>\n<p><strong>______________________________________________________________________________<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Wow, talk about patience. A Canadian man will finally find out what an ex-girlfriend gave him for Christmas nearly 50 years after the fact. Adrian Pearce caught the world&#8217;s attention after revealing that back in 1970, when he was 17, his girlfriend gave him a Christmas present just before dumping him, and that he&#8217;s kept it, unopened, ever since. Now he&#8217;s told the CBC it&#8217;s time to open the gift. Pearce says the story went so viral that his ex got in touch, telling him she doesn&#8217;t remember what&#8217;s inside the package. His name is Allyn Pierce, and he&#8217;s the nurse who drove this truck through the flames.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Allyn manages the ICU at a hospital, helped with the quick evacuation of patients then he hopped in his truck with two colleagues and headed for safety.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Like many residents in Paradise, they quickly hit gridlock. But unfortunately for them, they were stuck in the middle of the fire. Flames were touching the side of his truck, and as Allyn watched other cars catch fire, he thought his was next. .<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>He recorded a goodbye message to his family: \u201cJust in case this doesn\u2019t work out, I want you to know I really tried to make it out.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Suddenly a bulldozer appeared &amp; knocked a burning truck next to him out of the way. There was some room to maneuver. But instead of going forward toward safety, he turned around &amp; drove back into the heart of Paradise.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Allyn ended up back at the hospital and quickly realized injured Paradise residents were also there, looking for medical help. Doctors, nurses, paramedics &amp; police started a triage center in the hospital parking lot. Then the hospital caught fire. The team quickly relocated the patients 100 yards away to the hospital\u2019s helipad. Eventually authorities cleared a path to safety, so they loaded up the victims &amp; drove out in a caravan. Yeah, It Was All a Scam<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Right around this time last year, a\u00a0story\u00a0went viral out of Philadelphia.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>A woman named Kate McClure ran out of gas in Philadelphia in the middle of the night and she didn&#8217;t have any cash.\u00a0 And a homeless guy named Johnny Bobbitt walked to the gas station and used HIS last $20 to help her out.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>So Kate and her husband Mark D&#8217;Amico set up a GoFundMe to thank him . . . and it wound up raising $400,000.\u00a0 A pretty great, heartwarming story, right?\u00a0 Well, we should&#8217;ve all known better.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>It turns out the three of them came up with the story together as a way to scam people out of money.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Apparently Kate and Mark met Johnny about a month earlier, and then they met up with him a few times and gave him some money . . . and they all came up with the story together.\u00a0 And Kate and Mark were also hoping to land a book deal out of it.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Now they&#8217;re all facing criminal charges of conspiracy and theft by deception.\u00a0 Kate and Mark turned themselves in on Wednesday . . . and Johnny was arrested later that night.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>______________________________________________________________________________<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>\u00a0<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><u>CANNABIS CLASS:<\/u><\/strong><strong><u><br \/>\n<\/u><\/strong>With Canada\u2019s recent move to legalize marijuana for recreational use, a Regina, SK man is cashing in\u2026with class.\u00a0 He is offering to teach others how to grow it at home.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Jeremy Drummond, the co-owner of The Grow Room, opened his shop on Oct. 17, the same day that the recreational use of marijuana was legalized in Canada.
