{"id":27201,"date":"2021-12-29T05:12:38","date_gmt":"2021-12-29T10:12:38","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/briwebapp.net\/cfcofm\/?p=27201"},"modified":"2021-12-29T05:12:38","modified_gmt":"2021-12-29T10:12:38","slug":"15yr-old-saves-a-life","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/briwebapp.net\/cfcofm\/blogs\/good-news\/2021\/12\/15yr-old-saves-a-life\/","title":{"rendered":"15yr Old Saves A Life"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">When 15-year-old Sydney Raley clocked in for her shift recently at a\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2021\/01\/31\/us\/chick-fil-a-drive-thru-covid-vaccine-trnd\/index.html\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">McDonald&#8217;s<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u00a0in Eden Prairie, a few miles south of Minneapolis, she didn&#8217;t expect to clock out as a hero.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">After handing a customer some of her food in the\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2021\/11\/21\/business\/drive-thru-slow-times\/index.html\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">drive-thru<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">, Sydney popped back out of the window to let her know the rest was on the way. That&#8217;s when Sydney noticed the woman was choking on a\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2020\/08\/25\/business\/mcdonalds-spicy-chicken-mcnuggets\/index.html\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">chicken nugget.<\/span><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Sydney instructed both her manager and the woman&#8217;s daughter to call 911 as she quickly jumped through the window to help the woman. She\u00a0 took a Red Cross babysitter class at age 11, where she learned the\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2016\/05\/27\/us\/heimlich-inventor-uses-maneuver\/index.html\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Heimlich manoeuvre<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">, and &#8220;all that training immediately kicked in.&#8221;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The manoeuvre didn&#8217;t work the first couple of times Sydney tried, so she called on a bystander to assist.Eventually the nugget was set free, and the woman was able to breathe again. Afterwards, the woman was in shock but very thankful toward Sydney.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Two officers from the Edina Police Department then arrived on the scene to check on the woman, and had a reward for the teen. &#8220;They said, &#8216;Congratulations you&#8217;re a lifesaver; you&#8217;re a hero.'&#8221; Sydney said.
