2. A woman whose family fled to Britain to escape a war has closed her seaside hotel to tourists\u2014so she can give Ukrainian refugees a place to stay. Nitsa Michael is no longer taking guests at the Seaward Hotel in Weston-super-Mare, England. Instead, she has rolled out the welcome mat to 22 Ukrainians, so far, providing a \u201chome away from home\u201d. Her family fled Cyprus following a Turkish invasion in 1974, and she wanted to do something to help people in the same \u2018horror situation\u2019, fleeing from Russian aggression in Ukraine. The 84-year-old says she \u201cfelt for them\u201d and decided to help in a \u201cbig way\u201d. Her daughter Michelle, who runs the hotel, says the 22 arrivals share meals and time together, \u201cand basically they heal together.\u201d The hotel has room for 48 more.<\/p>\n
3. A retirement home in Kansas threw a “Roaring ’20s” party for a woman BORN in 1920. Her name is Elouise Lyons, and she’s 102. Her son says one of the secrets to her longevity is a shot of SCOTCH every day. And how cool is this: Elouise also has a twin sister who’s still kickin’.
