Adam Gillan had been homeless in Edmonton for over four years and had given up hope and resigned to never seeing his family until one day while searching through a dumpster he found a picture of Bambi. He sold it an antique shop for $20.<\/p>\n
Alex Archbold bought it and realized it was an original cel from the movie and sold it for more than $3500 and also felt he needed to find Adam. After 2 weeks of searching he found him and give him half the money.<\/p>\n
\u201cAre you kidding me?\u201d Adam says after being surprised with the envelope full of cash.
\nThe other half of the money was spent on hotel, food and clothes for Adam, before Alex launched a a GoFundMe that raised almost $18,000 for him.<\/p>\n
While the generosity felt unbelievable, the reality of returning home to face his family felt paralyzing but with Alex\u2019s support, Adam found the courage to face his fears and board a train home to London, Ont.<\/p>\n
Now, four years later, Adam is still doing the work \u2014 and thriving. He says he\u2019s sober and healthy, present in his children’s lives, and running his own drywall business.
\nLike he was inspired to rebuild his life and move forward, Adam says his business plan includes helping others do the same.<\/p>\n
Although they live half a country away from each other, Adam and Alex have visited each other and talk regularly.
