When nominations were announced for the upcoming ACM Awards, Chris Stapleton’s name came up five times.<\/p>\n
As the reigning Entertainer of the Year, he\u2019s up for that again.<\/p>\n
He picked up his ninth consecutive nomination for Male Artist of the Year. He\u2019s won it three times.<\/p>\n
He\u2019s also up for Artist-Songwriter of the Year.<\/p>\n
Plus, in the category of Album of the Year, if he wins, he would pick up two trophies, one for Artist and one for Producer.<\/p>\n
Chris talked about the nominated album, titled Higher, and he told us how it\u2019s different from the other ones he\u2019s recorded in the past<\/p>\n
\u201cOne thing that\u2019s probably notable about the record to me is it\u2019s the first one that we\u2019ve put out that doesn\u2019t contain a cover, so there\u2019s no covers on this record. So, in that way, I guess you could say it should be more intrinsically whatever we do. So, there\u2019s definitely some exploration of the edges of what that is, and certainly some moments of stretching out vocally and trying to see what that is. There\u2019s some different stuff on this record, I think, and I think it\u2019s really great. I think it\u2019s something that people will enjoy. I think there\u2019s something on it for everybody, which is kind of always my goal. If you\u2019re a kind of a hardcore traditional country person, there\u2019s a song on there for that somewhere. If you leaned into more of the R&B side of what we do, there\u2019s stuff on there for that. If you like the rock side of things that we do, there\u2019s stuff on there for that. And there\u2019s some really great songs on here. I\u2019m excited about the songs on this record.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
