{"id":40815,"date":"2024-09-16T10:30:23","date_gmt":"2024-09-16T14:30:23","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/briwebapp.net\/cfcofm\/?p=40815"},"modified":"2024-09-16T08:25:46","modified_gmt":"2024-09-16T12:25:46","slug":"david-bowie-has-a-1-country-song-thanks-to-chris-young","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/briwebapp.net\/cfcofm\/blogs\/country-music-news\/2024\/09\/david-bowie-has-a-1-country-song-thanks-to-chris-young\/","title":{"rendered":"David Bowie Has A #1 Country Song Thanks To Chris Young"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>David Bowie and country music are two things that normally don&#8217;t go together&#8230; until now.<\/p>\n<p>Chris Young&#8217;s song, &#8220;Young Love &amp; Saturday Nights&#8221; just got to #1 on the Country Airplay chart, and it uses a David Bowie guitar riff from the song &#8220;Rebel Rebel&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>This means that David Bowie now has a #1 song on the Country charts as well, and he achieved it 8 years after his passing.<\/p>\n<p>This was made possible when Warner Chappell Music purchased Bowie&#8217;s catalogue in 2022. They are now legally allowed to use Bowie&#8217;s songs in a wide variety of different ways.<\/p>\n<p>Chris explained it by saying,<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>&#8220;There are a lot of songs where people use something as a sample or have exactly the same melody. This is different. This is creating something new, with a nod to something that pre-existed . . .
