They have a common ancestor named John Brickey, who was born in 1740 in Virginia.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/people.com\/dolly-parton-is-actually-related-to-goddaughter-miley-cyrus-8717819\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Dolly was interviewed by &#8220;People&#8221; magazine<\/a> when they surprised her with the news from Ancestry.com. Dolly sure loved it, and said this about Miley:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>&#8220;I&#8217;m sure she&#8217;ll get a kick out of it, but it doesn&#8217;t surprise me because she does feel like family.&#8221;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>That&#8217;s a pretty strong musical family tree.
