What counts as REAL “Country” music in 2024?<\/p>\n
Chris Stapleton weighed in on the debate on Lance Armstrong’s podcast, and said a lot of people forget it’s NEVER really been just one thing, there’s always been a “broad spectrum” of music living under the Country banner.<\/p>\n
He said if you go back through the decades, there’s always been “a pop side,” “something a little grittier,” and stuff that “meets in the middle.” So, he doesn’t get caught up in the debate. It’s just “different strokes for different folks.”<\/p>\n
He noted that even a lot of his own stuff doesn’t fit the cookie-cutter definition of what Country music is, or was.<\/p>\n
