Garth Brooks and Trisha Yearwood honoured late U.S. President Jimmy Carter at his funeral on Thursday, January 9 by performing a touching cover of John Lennon\u2019s \u201cImagine,\u201d one of Carter\u2019s favourite songs.<\/p>\n

The duo also performed that song at Rosalynn Carter\u2019s funeral in 2023.<\/p>\n
The two country stars were longtime friends of the Carters, having first met the former President and his wife years ago during a Habitat for Humanity building project.<\/p>\n
Back in October of 2024, Brooks and Yearwood celebrated the former president\u2019s 100th birthday in St. Paul, Minnesota by taking part in the 2024 Jimmy & Rosalynn Carter Work Week Project.<\/p>\n
Yearwood told People at the time.<\/p>\n
\u201cHe definitely wants to know that we\u2019re working and this is why we\u2019re here. He has a legacy of service and he never stopped serving. He\u2019s not physically standing here building, swinging a hammer, but we feel his presence and Ms. Rosalynn\u2019s presence strongly.
