The band Thompson Square was not happy when Beyonc\u00e9’s album “Cowboy Carter” won the Grammy for Best Country Album.<\/p>\n
They said it wasn’t so much the music, but the fact that they turned their back on other country artists who have been there for YEARS.<\/p>\n
Thompson Square is made up of husband-and-wife duo, Keifer and Shawna Thompson.<\/p>\n
Here’s what Keifer said about it,<\/p>\n
“It’s just sad that we’re turning our back on ourselves as a genre. You’ve got people who have dedicated their entire life, who are in some of these same categories, who are out there singing their [butt] off every night singing country music because they lived it, they loved it . . . and then you get beat out by somebody who’s not even in the genre.” Then he said, “I think country’s cool enough, and I wish that we could look at it ourselves and go, ‘We’re cool enough, man.'”<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
He also doesn’t think that out-of-genre collaborations should be the norm for country music, and that country stars behaving like Hollywood celebrities goes against everything the genre stands for.<\/p>\n
But apparently Post Malone gets a pass. Keifer said,<\/p>\n
“I don’t know Post, but I highly respect what he’s doing . . . [it’s] what Darius did when he came over from ‘Hootie’. He’s embracing the community. He loves country music.
