The Dairy Farmers of America (DFA) recently announced that its members’ sales had taken a hit of 1.1 billion dollars in 2018. The organization represents more than 14,000 farmers who produce about 30 percent of the nation’s milk, and its members earned about 13.6 billion dollars in 2018 compared to 14.7 billion dollars in 2017. The DFA says this drop is due to lower milk prices, but experts say the popularity of dairy substitutes and plant-based milks may play a role as well.<\/p>\n
