According to a new\u00a0Canadian study, dodgeball is a tool of oppression that teaches aggression and dominance that \u201creinforces the faces of oppression,\u201d.<\/p>\n
As researchers describe it, those \u201cfaces\u201d are \u201cmarginalization, powerlessness, and helplessness of those perceived as weaker individuals through the exercise of violence and dominance by those who are considered more powerful.\u201d.<\/p>\n
They feel for teachers trying to foster the virtues of caring and inclusion, on this view, dodgeball is counterproductive. This goal is impeded when cruelty, oppression and violence are built into the rules.<\/p>\n
