A new study of 2,000 Americans found that people who view a glass as half-full not only think more optimistically, but it may line up with even more personality traits including decisiveness, playfulness, and creativity.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>When viewing an image of a glass containing an equal amount of liquid and empty space, 58 percent of Americans felt that the glass was half-full, while 16 percent felt that it was half-empty (the remaining respondents were indecisive).<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The new survey found that glass half-full thinkers, while being more optimistic, also tended to be more patient, more creative, more competitive, more adaptable and more playful than glass half-empty thinkers.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>On the other hand, glass half-empty thinkers tended to be more laid-back, more introverted, more serious and prouder than their half-full counterparts. Oddly enough, glass half-empty thinkers don\u2019t always self-identify as pessimists. In fact, nearly half (48 percent) of glass half-empty types believe they\u2019re more optimistic than pessimistic.<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>\u00a0______________________________________________________________________________________<\/u><\/strong><u><\/u><\/p>\n<p><strong><u>SIRI-OUSLY?<\/u><\/strong><u><br \/>\n<\/u>It turns out that we\u2019re using our smartphones all wrong.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Jony Ive, the chief design officer at Apple, said this month that on average, we are using them WAY more than Steve Jobs envisioned when he introduced the iPhone in 2007. He says that to Jobs, the smartphone was \u201can iPod that made phone calls\u201d and he wasn\u2019t nearly as focused on apps as many designers and consumers are today.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>While that might sound weird coming from a guy who has a financial incentive in people having their faces buried in his product, Ives says that there is the chance of \u201cmisuse\u201d of any tool.
