bereavement leave to cover pets.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Emma McNulty of Glasgow was distraught after the sudden death of her family&#8217;s dog, Millie, and was too upset to work her shift the next day. McNulty said, &#8220;Following [Millie&#8217;s] unexpected death, I informed\u00a0my manager I could not come into work as I was too devastated and physically sick to do so. Instead of being shown the compassion and sympathy stated in the contract, I was sent a number of nasty messages and told I had to cover my shift as no bereavement time was allowed for pets.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>She didn&#8217;t show up for the shift and was fired. You know, our kids, I think the most important part for us is we don&#8217;t ever impress what we do upon them. It&#8217;s just kind of the lifestyle so they can go if they want to and they don&#8217;t have to go if they don&#8217;t want to, that kind of thing, but we travel as a unit just because I mean we&#8217;re a family.
