A classic hot toddy consists of whiskey, honey, and lemon, and science is kind of divided on whether it’ll actually help you feel better.

For one thing, the lemon in the drink provides vitamin C, and a 2013 study found the vitamin might actually help reduce the duration of your symptoms if taken at a higher dose. The only trouble is your need up to two grams of vitamin C to feel any effects, and lemon only has about four milligrams per wedge.

The honey might be good for you too, as it contains some compounds that are thought to boost your immune system but there are no studies to show honey’s effects on the common cold. Drinking it hot is good for you too, as sipping hot liquids helps move germs and mucus out of your system.

As for the whiskey? Studies have shown that drinking alcohol at higher amounts can suppress your immune system– but having just one hot toddy likely isn’t enough to make this an issue. So just stick to one serving of booze and drinking a hot toddy might actually ease some of your cold symptoms and help you relax.

________________________________________________________________________________________________

WEDNESDAY SEPTEMBER 4TH

TODAY’S BIRTHDAYS

[59] Damon Wayans, actor

[39] Max Greenfield, actor (‘Schmidt’ on “New Girl” 2011-18)

——————————————————————————————————————————-

As Hurricane Dorian continues to make it’s way up the U.S. south east coast, it has leveled a lot of homes and businesses in the Bahamas. The Bahamian Prime Minister, Hubert Minnis, says the main airport in under water.

MLB

Atlanta 7 Toronto 2

Kansas City 6 Detroit 5

An 18-year-old kid in Las Vegas named Enrique Pinto Jr. recently tried to join the Army, but was too overweight. He weighed 317 pounds, and had to get down to around 200 before they’d take him. So he started eating better and working out. And in seven months, he lost 113 POUNDS. He and his Army recruiter say it all came down to dedication.

Jimmy challenged some players from the U.S. Open Tennis Tournament to drop in some funny phrases during their interviews recently. A few of them were “I used to take cat naps. Now I take kitten naps. Half as long, but twice as cute,” “Game, set, match, do the Cabbage Patch,” and “Slap your dad, call him Brad.”

____________________________________________________________________________________________________________

KIP MOORE DESCRIBES HIS WORST JOB EVER

Tonight, Kip Moore will play a concert for fans in London as he tours the United Kingdom.
