Feel Good Friday – Be A Tourist
February 25, 2022 10:38 amEvery Friday the Fox teams up with the Canadian Mental Health Association Lambton Kent for Feel Good Friday. Sharing things you can do to take care of yourself, focus on your mental health and FEEL GOOD!
This week – try being a tourist in your own city!
If you are looking for something fun to do this weekend, that can also boost your mental health? Try being a tourist in your own city! Research shows that those who have “travelled” around their own city rather than sitting at home were happier.
Start by making a list of places you’ve never been. Maybe a new coffee shop or restaurant. Stop into a local business you’ve never been to. Visit a trail you’ve been wanting to try. So many ways to be a tourist in your own community. Explore. Make it an adventure. Do something different. For your mental health, for fun and to feel good!
Last weekend, my girls and I ventured out and discovered a new candy store in Sarnia. AMAZING experience. Lots of fun sweet treats at Sweet Life Candy and Pop Shop. This little candy shop has an incredible variety of sweets from all over the world, and some old favourites that have been discontinued in Canada. Old favourites. Tahiti Treat. Fun Dip. Bottle caps? Anybody else remember those? You will find them on Christina Street in Sarnia.
Family Day we took our puppy on a walking adventure, going to the Dow Wetlands for the very first time. Yes, it was a little slushy from all the winter weather, but it was a beautiful little escape for an afternoon.
Finding those little places that you haven’t tried or seen or experienced can feel like you are a tourist in your own community. Venture out this weekend and try something new! Let us know what you do!
