We can Battle the Winter Bulge by knowing what we’re up against. Hope this helps!

We overeat in Winter because:

#1: WE’RE LESS ACTIVE
We don’t want to be outside when it’s frigid, so we’re less likely to keep up  our exercise routines and more likely to slow down daily movement overall.

#2: WE’RE COLD
When internal temperature drops, the body burns more calories to fight the cold. Our mind tells us to throw on an extra layer of clothing, and yes sometimes, grab a calorie-loaded hot food or drink such as double chocolate chip cookies and white chocolate mochas.

#3: WE’RE THIRSTY
Did you know we sweat as much in winter as we do the rest of the year? So because we’ve cranked up the heating & we’re bundled up with sweaters, sweats and wool socks  our bodies can so easily become dehydrated….so what you think is hunger might be confused with thirst.

#4: THE WINTER BLUES SET IN
This makes it more likely for us to look for comfort from richer foods

#5: WELL AREN’T WE GOING TO GAIN WEIGHT ANYWAYS…THAT’S JUST A FACT OF WINTER, RIGHT?
Wrong! A lot of us assume from years of hearing it, that in winter we gain weight, so we’ve already set ourselves up for failure, or, in other words, overeating before we even cracked open the mayo!

The Pic: my attempt at hearty without high carbs & fat: Pho soup. It was so good, I had to take it for lunch the next day!
