COULD SNOWPIERCER COME TRUE?
March 24, 2021 9:54 amI love a good Post Apocolyptic series or movie now and then, so when a couple of people mentioned Snowpiercer I thought I would check it out.
(Wikipedia) The premise: “Snowpiercer is set in 2021, seven years after the world becomes a frozen wasteland, and follows the remnants of humanity who have taken shelter on a perpetually moving luxury train. Designed and built by the eccentric billionaire Mr. Wilford, the train consists of 1,001 carriages and circles the globe 2.7 times per year.[2] The constant motion of the train provides energy and prevents the passengers from freezing as well. Since the catastrophe, the train’s population has become rigidly separated by class, caught up in a revolutionary struggle against the strictly imposed social hierarchy and unbalanced allocation of limited resources.[3] The show explores issues of class warfare, social injustice, and the politics of survival.[4]
Now here is where it gets interesting, how did the earth freeze in Snowpiercer? “The earth is frozen due to a failed geoengineering attempt to cool the planet by injecting particulates into the upper atmosphere. … It went too well…
A neat idea for a movie (the series is based on a 2013 movie of the same name) and series right?? Well then I read this:
Bill Gates wants to spray chalk into the stratosphere to reflect sunlight and slow global warming. The first test of the project to spray millions of ton of the chalk could happen in June. Harvard University experts will test the system by sending a large balloon 12 miles above the Swedish town of Kiruna and have it drop 4.4 pounds of chalk dust into the stratosphere. The aim of the estimated $3 million mission, backed by the billionaire Gates, is to have the chalk deflect a portion of the sun’s radiation, stop it from hitting the surface, and cool the planet. Not everyone is hot on the idea. Some experts have warned that the unusual technique could be disastrous for weather systems in ways nobody can predict.
Insert DA-DA-Doom Music here!!!
(it is actually a good show if you are looking for something new to watch!!)
