The View From Here – One Of Those Days
December 1, 2021 3:47 pmHow are you doing today? I know, I just asked you yesterday. But today seems different. And maybe the question needs to be asked again. And if I were to see you face to face, I’d want to follow it up with “do you need a hug?” Because I feel like I do.
It’s one of those “heavy” news days. Where nothing makes sense and we don’t know what to do. Yesterday we were annoyed with TimBiebs. (smile) Today we’re talking about another school shooting just an hour away in Michigan. I’d rather talk about overpriced merchandise, and fun flavoured donuts than lives lost, kids once again in fear of their lives and people left to grieve and all just before Christmas.
My heart breaks for those lives lost and for the families and friends left behind to pick up the pieces. We are so very sorry for your loss and hurt alongside you. Words don’t help. They aren’t enough. But we stand for you and with you and hurt alongside you. As a parent, I can’t even imagine what you are going through right now.
And in London, another tragic story. 11 pedestrians injured. An 8-year-old girl has died. Our hearts are broken with you and I know saying that is just not enough.
That kind of pain is forever. Life changing.
And all this happening with an ongoing pandemic with a new “variant of concern”, job loss, the prices of everything going up and up and up and the everyday struggles.
People are hurting. Everywhere. All around us. Which is why it is so important that we keep helping each other. Keep being kind to others. Reaching out and giving to others – even if it’s just an ear to listen.
Don’t ever be afraid to reach out and ask for help. It’s why we do our Feel Good Fridays with the Canadian Mental Health Association Lambton Kent. To remind you that you are never alone and it’s okay to reach out. It’s important to do things for yourself and sometimes that includes asking for help.
And for those “heavy” days – come join our Fox Feel Good Facebook community. It’s a private group on Facebook where we share life. It’s a great way to connect with others in a positive, feel good way.
****Did you know that CMHA Lambton Kent has a 24/7 Mental Health First Response Team that is available every day, even on holidays and weekends? It’s never too early to reach out for help: 1-800-307-4319.****
