Is it because of the new &#8220;social circles&#8221;?\u00a0 Is it because we feel our life returning to normal? Is it because we just got word that Sarnia Lambton is headed to <a href=\"https:\/\/blackburnnews.com\/sarnia\/sarnia-news\/2020\/06\/15\/sarnia-lambton-advancing-stage-2-ontario-pandemic-reopening\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Phase 2<\/a> as of Friday.\u00a0 That&#8217;s exciting!\u00a0 We are that much closer to going back to normal.\u00a0 More businesses will get to re-open (with restrictions) and more people will get to go back to work!\u00a0 Patios will open.\u00a0 We&#8217;ll be able to get that hair cut!\u00a0 Or fix that hair cut.\u00a0 Or colour.<\/p>\n<p>My oldest daughter was desperate to change her hair colour, and was growing <em>impatient<\/em> waiting <em>(a trait she claims she inherited from her mother<\/em>).\u00a0 She decided to strip her hair colour and re-colour it.\u00a0 As she did so, she said &#8220;Can you believe we can do this in our own homes? Why do we NEED salons?&#8221;\u00a0 To which I later replied, looking at her hair,\u00a0 <em>&#8220;Exhibit A&#8221;<\/em>.\u00a0 \u00a0She didn&#8217;t appreciate my humour.<\/p>\n<p>But it&#8217;s true.\u00a0 Hair dresses, stylists, salons &#8211; boy do we miss you, and yes we <em>need<\/em> you.\u00a0\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.huffpost.com\/entry\/hair-history-why-hair-is-_b_5567365\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">It&#8217;s never &#8220;just hair&#8221;<\/a>.\u00a0 To a lot of us, it&#8217;s our identity.\u00a0 It&#8217;s how we see ourselves.\u00a0 It&#8217;s so much more than hair. And just a heads up, if we suddenly change our hair cut or colour, there&#8217;s a good chance we&#8217;re going through something.\u00a0 Just sayin&#8217;.\u00a0 \u00a0There&#8217;s a good chance we are finding a way to cope.\u00a0 To reinvent ourselves.\u00a0 And there might be a boy involved. (smile).<\/p>\n<p>For the first time this weekend, I ventured out WITH my kids and my husband.\u00a0 My husband and I went in search of a patio set.\u00a0 Because our attempt at ordering online didn&#8217;t turn out so well.\u00a0 It was lost and then it was cancelled.\u00a0 By the time we got home, another email told us it was delayed.\u00a0 So we are very confused.\u00a0 Regardless, it was so nice to be out.\u00a0 Even if you&#8217;re still following foot prints in the store, and directional arrows and talking to the cashier through plexiglass.\u00a0 For a short period in time, it felt like it used to. Almost.<\/p>\n<p>I saw a friend at the grocery store I hadn&#8217;t seen in months and it was so nice to have a conversation face to face (from six fee apart).\u00a0 To see the reaction to the conversation.\u00a0 To see her eyes light up, and her smile.\u00a0 To talk about things we&#8217;d each been feeling and experiencing.\u00a0 It&#8217;s great that we have technology to stay in touch with people, but it will never ever replace the connection to people face to face.<\/p>\n<p>As much as I miss people, I&#8217;m not sure I&#8217;m ready to be back in the world yet.\u00a0 My first thought when it comes to going back to work is\u00a0 &#8220;I&#8217;m going to have to shower daily and wear real clothes.&#8221; I&#8217;m worried about how easily I will adjust to going back to that old routine when the time comes.\u00a0 I worry even more about the day my kids have to go back to school and what a shock to the system that will be.\u00a0 Early wake up times, the morning rush.<\/p>\n<p>We&#8217;ve certainly been through a lot these last few months haven&#8217;t we?<\/p>\n<p>Our kids will have some great stories for their kids and grand kids.\u00a0 The great toilet paper shortage of 2020.\u00a0 By the way, I saw a big pile of toilet paper this weekend and was in a bit of shock and surprise when I saw it.\u00a0 Nobody rushing to buy it all up.<\/p>\n<p>Are you ready to go back to normal?\u00a0 Whatever that normal will be?\u00a0 Are you feeling ready to jump back in and do the things you loved to do?\u00a0 Are you ready for the hair cut, and the gym, and shopping without directional cues and plexiglass barriers?<\/p>\n<p>Do you think we will ever go back to that normal?<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"How are you?
