{"id":10578,"date":"2020-07-21T17:21:43","date_gmt":"2020-07-21T21:21:43","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/briwebapp.net\/cfgxfm\/?p=10578"},"modified":"2020-07-21T17:24:50","modified_gmt":"2020-07-21T21:24:50","slug":"the-view-from-here-my-best-mess","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/briwebapp.net\/cfgxfm\/blogs\/afternoons\/2020\/07\/the-view-from-here-my-best-mess\/","title":{"rendered":"The View From Here &#8211; My Best Mess"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Yesterday, I was put together and feeling fabulous.<\/p>\n<p>Today, I sit here, still in my workout &#8220;fit&#8221; from this morning, I haven&#8217;t showered, and am the opposite of &#8220;put together&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>I read somewhere today that <a href=\"https:\/\/ideas.ted.com\/get-closer-to-the-people-in-your-life-by-being-the-best-mess-possible\/?utm_medium=referral&amp;utm_source=facebook.com&amp;utm_campaign=social&amp;utm_content=2020-7-21&amp;fbclid=IwAR3hqPmLNMUTferF0Jn1EuDZZnjb-UTiJTHCIYfwBUpvFGGtzJB5gX208rA\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">being the best mess<\/a>\u00a0is a good thing.\u00a0 \u00a0Letting go of perfection.<\/p>\n<p>Blogger Chidera Eggerue (aka The Slumflower) says &#8220;Everybody essentially is going to be messy forever, so I&#8217;m trying to be the best mess.&#8221; What does that even mean?\u00a0 As Chidera puts it &#8211;\u00a0<strong><em>\u201cIt\u2019s an understanding that regardless of how I show up, I\u2019m enough because I said so.\u201d<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;ve been working from home since early April.\u00a0 I&#8217;ve had good days and really dark days.\u00a0 Days where I have shown up, ready to work, dressed for work, hair and makeup done.\u00a0 Feeling good. Focused.<\/p>\n<p>Other days I stare blankly out the window and wonder when I&#8217;ll get to work with people again.\u00a0 Missing human interaction.\u00a0 Sad.\u00a0 A bit lonely.\u00a0 Not even sure what to feel or think.<\/p>\n<p>I mean, I appreciate being home.\u00a0 I do.\u00a0 I consider myself really lucky to keep working and to be able to stay home and not shower if I don&#8217;t feel like it. (smile)<\/p>\n<p>And I know that we are closer to returning to normal &#8211; Sarnia-Lambton enters Stage Three on Friday morning 12:01am.<\/p>\n<p>Are we ready?\u00a0 Do you feel READY?\u00a0 I thought I did.\u00a0 I want people to be able to go back to work and businesses to stay open.\u00a0 I know so many people who have been struggling, and it&#8217;s hard to watch and not be able to do anything about it.<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;m excited for things to go back to ALMOST normal.\u00a0 I miss having dinner out, or sitting inside a restaurant and talking about everything over multiple cups of coffee.<\/p>\n<p>But does anybody else still have those constant worries in the back of your head?\u00a0 The whisper of &#8220;be careful, maybe it&#8217;s too soon?&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>I was out with my daughters last night.\u00a0 My youngest needed shorts.\u00a0 She&#8217;s outgrown what she has.\u00a0 It&#8217;s been a hot summer.\u00a0 So we ventured out.\u00a0 Can I say that it&#8217;s near impossible to find certain things right now?\u00a0 I feel like shorts is one of them.<\/p>\n<p>It FEELS normal when I go out.<\/p>\n<p>Streets and parking lots seem fairly busy.\u00a0 Like it USED TO BE.\u00a0 BEFORE Covid shut our world down.<\/p>\n<p>We&#8217;ve gotten used to masks, and social distancing.\u00a0 Seeing the arrows marking the direction for us in every store we visit.\u00a0 The circles to keep our spots away from each other.\u00a0 It&#8217;s just what we know now.<\/p>\n<p>What once seemed daunting, and fear inducing &#8211; now NORMAL.<\/p>\n<p>But sometimes, the fear returns.\u00a0 Maybe not fear, but concern.\u00a0 \u00a0You wonder if you REALLY needed to be out.\u00a0 You see others, and think &#8220;They are out.\u00a0 Maybe we are going to be okay?&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Hoping and praying our numbers stay down.<\/p>\n<p>As we inch closer to our old &#8220;normal&#8221; &#8211; more businesses reopening &#8211; are you concerned that we are being too lenient?\u00a0 Are we forgetting that we haven&#8217;t BEAT the virus yet?\u00a0 It&#8217;s still &#8220;out there&#8221;?<\/p>\n<p>I don&#8217;t want to live scared, and it sure is nice to go someplace and see another smiling face.\u00a0 I can&#8217;t wait til we don&#8217;t have to worry anymore and we can stop arguing about masks. (smile).<\/p>\n<p>Let&#8217;s keep doing what we need to do Sarnia &#8211; so we don&#8217;t end up going backwards.<\/p>\n<p>Let&#8217;s keep doing our part and keep sharing the love and kindness we are known for, that makes us great.<\/p>\n<p>Because the only way we get through this &#8211; is together.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Yesterday, I was put together and feeling fabulous.
