{"id":10642,"date":"2020-07-29T16:11:05","date_gmt":"2020-07-29T20:11:05","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/briwebapp.net\/cfgxfm\/?p=10642"},"modified":"2020-07-29T16:52:24","modified_gmt":"2020-07-29T20:52:24","slug":"oh-the-heartbreak","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/briwebapp.net\/cfgxfm\/blogs\/afternoons\/2020\/07\/oh-the-heartbreak\/","title":{"rendered":"Oh The Heartbreak"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I value the escape from reality that a good series to binge on Netflix provides.\u00a0 \u00a0An escape from our covid world right now is sure appreciated.<\/p>\n<p>Until the unthinkable happens and one of your most favourite, most loved characters is gone forever and you&#8217;re left ugly crying on the couch for hours.<\/p>\n<p>Still hanging onto the disbelief of the hurt the next day.\u00a0 Working in your pj&#8217;s &#8211; not even showered.\u00a0 (smile)\u00a0 Okay, that might not be tv related and more about me simply being lazy. #truestory<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s been a long time since I&#8217;ve been so involved with a show and it&#8217;s characters.<\/p>\n<p>Party of Five, Grey&#8217;s Anatomy, This Is Us &#8211; all managed to capture my heart.\u00a0 Story lines so well written it&#8217;s easy to connect to the characters.\u00a0 I don&#8217;t know how many times I swore I would never watch another episode of Grey&#8217;s after another character died.<\/p>\n<p>Nashville is the latest to leave me broken-hearted.\u00a0 \u00a0How could they?\u00a0 How DARE they?\u00a0 A death I never saw coming.\u00a0 AT ALL.<\/p>\n<p>One of the main characters.\u00a0 One of the characters you are absolutely convinced nothing could ever happen to because they ARE the show.\u00a0 Sometimes we get tricked into believing the main person will always be okay no matter what because you know they are needed.\u00a0 Without them, there is NO show.\u00a0 \u00a0Not the case with Nashville.<\/p>\n<p>When a story line in a show leaves you ugly crying on the couch for hours, you know it&#8217;s been well done.\u00a0 You know it&#8217;s about so much more than a tv show when that happens.\u00a0 That&#8217;s reaching part of you deep in your soul.<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;ve watched other shows\/ movies &#8211; where something bad happens, there&#8217;s a death of a character, there&#8217;s a funeral, they are sad &#8211; and then they move on.<\/p>\n<p>Not Nashville.\u00a0 The death took many episodes and the reality of it came across as real and raw as it is in real life.<\/p>\n<p>When there is a sudden death you know the feeling.\u00a0 The shock.\u00a0 The incredible sadness.\u00a0 \u00a0The numbness you feel for days\/ weeks\/ months.\u00a0 The disbelief.\u00a0 The anger.<\/p>\n<p>I have never seen a show do it so well.\u00a0 \u00a0I&#8217;ve never had it feel so REAL.<\/p>\n<p>I think we heal ourselves when we watch these shows.\u00a0 \u00a0I think when we&#8217;ve gone through something, and we can relate or identify to a character or story line, I believe it helps us heal.\u00a0 My mom died in a car accident when I was 18.\u00a0 This show brought it all back in so many ways.\u00a0 Like it was yesterday and not thirty years ago.<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;m always amazed when we feel so close to a character on a tv screen.\u00a0 A character that isn&#8217;t even REAL.\u00a0 With Nashville, the character was the heart of the show.\u00a0 You felt the connection to that character over five seasons.<\/p>\n<p>So unfair.\u00a0 \u00a0So much like life in the real world.<\/p>\n<p>Powerful.\u00a0 But at the same time, I think it&#8217;s like a mini therapy session for us.\u00a0 It helps us process our own hurts and struggles.\u00a0 And I think we all need a good old ugly cry on the couch sometimes, right?<\/p>\n<p>I want to see how they wrap up the series, but at the same time, I feel like I&#8217;m actually grieving a person that doesn&#8217;t even exist.\u00a0 And someone that reminds me of my own mother, and just how much I miss her.<\/p>\n<p>Is there a show you had a hard time letting go of because of a similar character?\u00a0 A character you FELT close to that you had a hard time saying goodbye to?<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<div class=\"video-shortcode embed-container\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"YouTube video player\" width=\"610\" height=\"355\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/StQNn1O_Ad4\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"I value the escape from reality that a good series to binge on Netflix provides.\u00a0 \u00a0An escape from our covid world right now is sure appreciated.
