One of the things I got caught up on when I was on vacation last week, was documenting this pandemic life.<\/p>\n

I have a Happy Planner which I’ve been using for a long time.\u00a0 It should be for “planning”.\u00a0 \u00a0Events, dinner dates, weddings, birthday parties, to do lists and dentist appointments.\u00a0 \u00a0Coffee dates, work schedules.<\/p>\n

It’s turned into more of a memory keeper\/ scrapbook of sorts.<\/p>\n

In the beginning of the year, it was about simple day to day stuff.\u00a0 \u00a0Now it’s the ever changing #covidlife.<\/p>\n

Interesting to look back on when this whole thing started.<\/p>\n

Back in March, the Fox staff got together for picture day.\u00a0 It was the 12th.\u00a0 A Thursday.\u00a0 \u00a0In just days the world began to change.\u00a0\"\"<\/p>\n

There were jokes about toilet paper shortages.\u00a0 Grocery store shelves were picked over and empty.<\/p>\n

March 23rd non-essential businesses started to close.\u00a0 Fitness classes and church services started online. People started to work from home.<\/p>\n

School was cancelled.<\/p>\n

We started baking bread and reaching for comfort foods.\u00a0 We couldn’t find flour or yeast anywhere.<\/p>\n

There were positive messages showing up in windows and on rocks scattered through communities.<\/p>\n

We went back to board games and jigsaw puzzles to keep busy.<\/p>\n

Gas prices were at an all time low.\u00a0 Streets were empty.\u00a0 Sarnia was a ghost town when it should be busy.\u00a0 Parking lots empty.<\/p>\n

Birthday parties weren’t allowed so people were doing drive-by birthday parades.\u00a0 There were parades to show support to essential workers.<\/p>\n

Businesses adjusted to an online platform.\u00a0 For the first time ever I got my summer plants online and picked them up in the parking lot.<\/p>\n

Work meetings were happening on Zoom with kids and pets the stars of the show.<\/p>\n

May 19th – the school year was cancelled.\u00a0 Kids were crushed.\u00a0 Missing prom, graduations and school trips.<\/p>\n

Hair cuts were happening at home as people needed to do something with their messy mops.<\/p>\n

One by one we saw everything cancelled or postponed.\u00a0 Fundraisers, events, concerts.\u00a0 No new television shows or movies.\u00a0 No fall fairs.<\/p>\n

The world came to a stand still.<\/p>\n

We missed people.\u00a0 Hugs.\u00a0 Visits.<\/p>\n

Graduation ceremonies were held online, virtually.<\/p>\n

We cleaned closets.\u00a0 \u00a0We read books and binge watched Netflix.\u00a0 \u00a0 We spent way too much time with ourselves – our own thoughts and feelings.<\/p>\n

We realized what mattered the most – people.\u00a0 And we missed it and some of us still do.\u00a0 Some of us are still waiting to reunite with friends and family.<\/p>\n

Masks.\u00a0 Social distancing.\u00a0 \u00a0Waiting in line.<\/p>\n

Hope. Fear.\u00a0 Frustration.\u00a0Our emotions have been all over the place.\u00a0\u00a0We’ve felt it all.<\/p>\n

And we aren’t out of the woods yet.<\/p>\n

Are you tracking the world events?\u00a0 Are you journalling or finding a way to remember the year we’d rather not?<\/p>\n

It’s been a wild ride.\u00a0 Highs and lows. Ups and downs.\u00a0 So much change and adjustments.<\/p>\n

Don’t let it take away what’s good in the world.\u00a0 Don’t let your fear and frustration change how you act or treat others.<\/p>\n

Remember kindness and compassion.<\/p>\n
