Are you ready for Halloween?\u00a0 It might look different this year, and maybe you aren’t able to go to the big parties or trick or treating like other years – there is still so many ways to have fun and celebrate the day.<\/p>\n
My biggest memories are the simplest ones.<\/p>\n
I remember those awful costumes.\u00a0 The plastic sheet and plastic mask that always fell apart.\u00a0 Most of the time you had to cover it up with your winter coat anyway. Right?<\/p>\n
My mom loved making us costumes.\u00a0 We always wished we could have something from the store, but my mom loved to get creative and if I’m being honest, those are the costumes I remember the most.<\/p>\n
I remember dressing as half man \/ half woman one year.\u00a0 A suit and a beard on one side.\u00a0 On the other a dress, and hair in a ponytail with makeup.\u00a0 Probably some hand me down costume from someone she knew.\u00a0 I remember dressing as Boy George one year and having so much fun.\u00a0 Inspired by the Colour By Numbers album cover I used one of my dad’s work shirts was the costume.\u00a0 Drawing all over it to make it look like one of his outfits.\u00a0 Lots of braids with ribbons and colour.\u00a0 So much fun.<\/p>\n
And I remember carving a pumpkin every year.\u00a0 It was something we looked forward to as kids, and I still look forward to it with my kids and yes I have my own.<\/p>\n
I love the mess of it.\u00a0 The laughs that come with it.\u00a0 Listening to music, singing along, getting creative with the spooky pumpkin faces that is different every single year.<\/p>\n
I realize those moments won’t last forever.\u00a0 My kids are already starting to lose interest.\u00a0 \u00a0Well, they say they are.\u00a0 But as soon as we get close to Halloween, they suddenly get interested again.\u00a0 My husband brings out the carving tools and the fun begins again.<\/p>\n
My son is in Calgary and found pumpkin carving a fun “first date” activity.\u00a0 Over video chat.\u00a0 Which I thought was different and cool.\u00a0 \u00a0Dating sure is different in a pandemic.<\/p>\n
Don’t let the pandemic take away all the fun of Halloween.<\/p>\n
There are lots of “haunted houses” to see on Sarnia’s FIRST organized Haunted Halloween tour.\u00a0 \u00a0A chance for you to tour of over 35 amazing haunted houses throughout Sarnia and surrounding areas. Some houses may give you an extra scare!\u00a0 8 maps in total. Check out the Facebook group<\/a> for the maps.\u00a0 Seriously.\u00a0 These houses are amazing.\u00a0 We were out on on short tour last night and I was actually a bit afraid to go to a few of them.\u00a0 Two words.\u00a0 Michael Myers.\u00a0 \u00a0You’ve been warned.<\/p>\n
