I want to write, “Dear Diary,\u00a0 hey!\u00a0 Still here.\u00a0 AT home.\u00a0 ALL THE TIME.\u00a0 Nothing has changed.\u00a0 Nothing new to report.”<\/p>\n

Because there’s absolutely nothing else to report.\u00a0 At the beginning of this I was documenting so much.\u00a0 The plexi glass.\u00a0 The masks.\u00a0 Standing in line six feet apart.\u00a0 \u00a0The fear, the worry.\u00a0 The smell of sanitizer everywhere.\u00a0 Dry hands.\u00a0 NO toilet paper to be found.<\/p>\n

It once seemed so strange for me to be working from home.\u00a0 In my scrapbook room.\u00a0 Now it’s strange to think of going TO work.<\/p>\n

I got dressed for work today.\u00a0 Like, really dressed.\u00a0 With a shirt and jacket from a HANGER.\u00a0 I mean, I should at least put some sort of effort in sometimes to look like I still care, right?<\/p>\n

It’s been seven months that I have been working from home.\u00a0 Seven months I’ve avoided “nice” clothes.\u00a0 Mostly out of fear they still fit, if I’m being honest.<\/p>\n

I look around at my scrapbook room, with my pictures and stickers.\u00a0 Books still waiting to be read.\u00a0 Seems so strange, that this is reality.\u00a0 I’m working out of my craft room.\u00a0 I am broadcasting to you every day from my home.<\/p>\n

Odd isn\u2019t it? How we\u2019ve adjusted to things that seemed so strange back in April.<\/div>\n

I know I’m one of the lucky ones.\u00a0 I’m at home with my kids.\u00a0 And my fur baby Sheldon.\u00a0 I can throw in a load of laundry between songs, or head to the kitchen and throw something in the crock pot for dinner.\u00a0 I can stay in my pj’s all day if I wanted to.\u00a0 As long as there were no Google Meet work meetings, who would know? (smile).\u00a0 I took advantage of the new at home dress code when I started working from home.\u00a0 Extra coffee breaks. (smile).<\/div>\n

Strange to remember life at the office now.\u00a0 My desk is just as I left it.\u00a0 My calendar stuck on March.\u00a0 So long ago now.<\/div>\n

There’s so much we’ve adjusted to.<\/div>\n

I watch my youngest go off to school with her mask.\u00a0 Like it’s something she’s always done.\u00a0 \u00a0I remember in the beginning how strange it seemed to have to wear a mask.\u00a0 \u00a0Now it’s like remembering your keys and sunglasses.\u00a0 \u00a0It’s just something you do.<\/div>\n

My planner stays pretty empty.\u00a0 Aside from a weekly music meeting with Sarah and a reminder to watch This Is Us – my calendar is pretty clear.\u00a0 Ha ha.\u00a0 Nothing to share with “Dear Diary”.\u00a0 Other than a reminder that we are still in the big fight against this virus.\u00a0 A vaccine getting closer.\u00a0 \u00a0We’re still distancing and keeping to our social bubbles and wearing masks and washing our hands.<\/div>\n

I miss hugs and friends and I really miss my family. I so desperately want to see my dad again and sit with him at his kitchen table and drink coffee and eat cookies and share life.<\/div>\n

So, Dear Diary, nothing new.\u00a0 \u00a0But we’re staying hopeful and as positive as we can be that someday soon, this will be a memory.<\/div>\n
