We had our work Christmas party today.\u00a0 On Zoom.\u00a0 Almost an hour of being very aware of my face on camera.\u00a0 Ick.\u00a0 I HATE video meetings and chats.\u00a0 It’s been one of the hardest adjustments to this pandemic world.\u00a0 So much online.<\/p>\n

Mute. Unmute.\u00a0 Awkward silence.\u00a0 The feed cutting in and out.\u00a0 Talking over each other.\u00a0 Repeating yourself.\u00a0 Wearing real clothes.\u00a0 (kidding)<\/p>\n

It’s been nine months since I’ve seen all my co-workers in one place. Even if it’s only in a small square.\u00a0 One voice at a time.<\/p>\n

It was nice to feel part of a group again.\u00a0 But I have to be honest, what if I don’t know how to go back to work?<\/p>\n

What if this pandemic way of life is hard to recover from in more ways than one?<\/p>\n

I enjoy working from home.\u00a0 \u00a0The slower pace.\u00a0 Access to a fully stocked kitchen whenever I need.<\/p>\n

I love being there with my kids.\u00a0 Even my cat, who has gotten so used to me being home, he pretty much ignores me and sleeps most of the day away.<\/p>\n

How will I ever return to the crazy pace that was once my life?\u00a0 Rushing around in the mornings to get out the door on time?\u00a0 Packing lunches.\u00a0 Wearing REAL clothes?<\/p>\n

It feels so strange to even think about.<\/p>\n

The thought of being normal again is almost something I’m afraid of.\u00a0 Just being honest.<\/p>\n

I’ve gotten used to staying home.\u00a0 Isolating.\u00a0 Being by myself.\u00a0 \u00a0It’s comfortable.\u00a0 But I’m a shy girl at heart.\u00a0 It’s easy to stay home.\u00a0 It’s easy to avoid people when that’s who you are.<\/p>\n
