It\u2019s pretty much something that started as a PR stunt to sell vacations. It\u2019s a calculation based on things like the gloomy weather, debt, failed new year\u2019s resolutions, and general doom and gloom.<\/p>\n<p>Experts say mental health \u201cgood and bad\u201d days are individual to each of us. And the past few months have been especially challenging. There\u2019s been a lot of Blue Mondays. And Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Thursdays.\u00a0 Fridays.\u00a0 Saturdays.\u00a0 Sundays too.\u00a0 Every day of the week brings some sadness.<\/p>\n<p>According to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mentalhealth.org.uk\/blog\/what-does-blue-monday-mean-our-mental-health\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">THIS<\/a> it&#8217;s nothing but a PR stunt created by a travel company to sell more vacations and to inspire people to do something.\u00a0 There is no science to it.\u00a0 But that doesn&#8217;t mean we aren&#8217;t feeling some sort of &#8220;winter blues&#8221;.\u00a0 The <a href=\"https:\/\/lambtonkent.cmha.ca\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Canadian Mental Health Association Lambton Kent<\/a> reminds us to take care of ourselves.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em>&#8220;Winter blues are a real thing, 15% of the population in Ontario has experienced the winter blues, which includes things like changes in appetite and low mood&#8230;but there are lots of things you can do to get through the winter season in a healthy way.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>?Take care of your physical health: regular exercise can help you feel less stressed and eating healthy can increase your energy<br \/>\n\u2600\ufe0fGet some sunlight: vitamin D deficiency can be a problem in the winter, try to get outdoors during the day!<br \/>\n?Practice self-care: anything that&#8217;s healthy and brings you joy!<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>I am all for that.\u00a0\u00a0So let&#8217;s try to prove &#8220;those&#8221; people wrong.<\/p>\n<p>Blue Monday?\u00a0\u00a0I refuse to accept it.\u00a0 Instead I am doing whatever I can to make it a happy Monday.<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;m working from home in the comfort of my pajamas today.\u00a0 I&#8217;m not even kidding.\u00a0 In my Duran Duran t-shirt and favourite hoodie.\u00a0 I may have had Oreo cookies for lunch.\u00a0 Rebel that I am.<\/p>\n<p>Blue Monday.\u00a0What Blue Monday?\u00a0 It&#8217;s only Blue if you let it.<\/p>\n<p>Now more than ever we need to really pay attention to how we are feeling.\u00a0 I&#8217;m trying really hard to stay focused on the good.\u00a0 I&#8217;m trying really hard to not think about all that I&#8217;m missing and can&#8217;t do.\u00a0 Because if I do that and get stuck in that spot &#8211; it won&#8217;t be good and I won&#8217;t be okay.<\/p>\n<p>Pick your favourite colour and let&#8217;s shake the dust off this so called Blue Monday and reclaim it as a happier day.\u00a0 Purple Monday?\u00a0 Sure.<\/p>\n<p>What are you doing to &#8220;shake the blues&#8221; today?<\/p>\n<p>Maybe play some Taylor Swift &#8220;Shake It Off&#8221; or other favourite feel good song.\u00a0 My go-to will always be Duran Duran.\u00a0 Their music ALWAYS makes me smile and feel better.<\/p>\n<p>I can take your requests &#8211; text us using the A1Security Textline &#8211; 519-464-1999 or send me an email ANYTIME<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"mailto:cbuchanan@blackburnradio.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">cbuchanan@blackburnradio.com<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"If you&#8217;ve been online today you might see lots of references to today being &#8220;Blue Monday&#8221;.
