I’m so proud of my tv family.\u00a0 (smile)\u00a0 Schitt’s Creek has been nominated for FIVE Golden Globes, including best TV musical or comedy series.<\/p>\n
Toronto-born Catherine O’Hara is up for her starring role as matriarch Moira Rose, alongside series co-creator Eugene Levy of Hamilton, who plays her husband, Johnny.<\/p>\n
Also nominated Daniel Levy for his supporting acting role as their son, alongside Ottawa-born Annie Murphy as their daughter.<\/p>\n
It’s been a long time since I’ve loved a show this much, but after watching it through “thrice” now I have to say, it’s a favourite and yes, I might call them my TV family.\u00a0 Lockdown has given us extra time and a LOT of Canadians got caught up on this brilliant, witty and unique series.<\/p>\n
If you haven’t got caught up in the Schitt’s Creek phenomenon I suggest you give it a try.\u00a0 But be warned, it’s highly addictive.\u00a0 You just might fall in love with the characters.\u00a0 Each one loveable in their own way.\u00a0 Moira and John – and their two kids David and Alexis.\u00a0 The show was created by father and son Eugene Levy and Dan Levy.\u00a0 \u00a0The series follows the formerly wealthy Rose family’s trials and tribulations.\u00a0 After Rose’s business manager embezzles the family business, Rose Video, the family loses it fortune and relocates to Schitt’s Creek, a small town they once purchased as a joke.<\/p>\n
The idea for the show started with Dan Levy who wondered how rich familes (like those we see on American reality tv) would react if they lost everything.<\/p>\n
At the 72nd Primetime Emmy Awards, the series’ final season swept all seven major comedy awards. It was the first time for a comedy or drama series to receive all seven awards.<\/p>\n
The show is funny and ridiculous in a brilliant way.\u00a0 The storylines deal with acceptance and love, family and so much more.\u00a0 You see these characters evolve and grow and you’re laughing at them sometimes and cheering them on.<\/p>\n
The words and phrases will stick with you.\u00a0 “Disgruntled pelican” and “Ew David” are a few that come to mind.<\/p>\n
It’s brilliant and worthy of all the awards and accolades and is the much needed laughter and feel-good relief that we all need right now.<\/p>\n
