I love Throwback Thursday.\u00a0 The nostalgia.\u00a0 Thinking back on younger days.\u00a0 Skinnier days. (smile)\u00a0\u00a0Seriously.\u00a0 I could eat anything I wanted and not gain a pound.\u00a0 I can THINK about food at my age and gain half a pound.\u00a0 I’m not even kidding.<\/p>\n

What do you miss about being a kid? Saturday morning cartoons.\u00a0 TV dinners.\u00a0 Roller skating on the weekend.\u00a0 And bowling.<\/p>\n

I had a picture show up on my Facebook page today and it took me WAY back.\u00a0 I don’t even know how old I was.\u00a0 10, 11, 12?\u00a0 It was a team bowling picture.\u00a0 All smiles.\u00a0 Which is crazy because my parents almost forced me to bowl.<\/p>\n

I am not athletic.\u00a0 The idea of playing any kind of team sport makes me want to cry.\u00a0 Again.\u00a0 Not even kidding.\u00a0 I’m not athletic.\u00a0 I lack all skill required to catch a ball, throw a ball, or move out of the way of a fast moving ball (smile).\u00a0 Ask me how I know.<\/p>\n

So my mom thought it would be fun for me to bowl on Saturday mornings with my cousin.\u00a0 There was always some sort of competition with this cousin.\u00a0 She was GOOD at bowling.\u00a0 I had never bowled.\u00a0 I think she THOUGHT she would beat me at this too.\u00a0 She had the shirt.\u00a0 The badges.<\/p>\n

My mom dragged me to the bowling alley.\u00a0 \u00a0But guess what?\u00a0 There was an arcade at the bowling alley and chocolate bars.\u00a0 \u00a0I think that’s how she convinced me to stay.\u00a0 Unlimited quarters to play Pac-Man and every Saturday morning a Mr. Big chocolate bar.<\/p>\n

And then guess what happened?\u00a0 I got GOOD.\u00a0 I got really good.\u00a0 I had high scores and got invited to tournaments.\u00a0 I even played a tournament with my coach and BEAT HER.\u00a0 I collected badges and trophies and high score on the Pac Man game at the arcade.\u00a0 I got pretty good at that too.\u00a0 Ha ha ha.<\/p>\n

So not to brag, but maybe I have some athletic ability after all.\u00a0 (kidding).\u00a0 \u00a0And I’d rather look back on a Throwback Thursday on my old bowling skills than my bad haircuts. I probably had as many of those as badges on my bowling shirt.<\/p>\n
