{"id":13560,"date":"2021-03-15T14:45:23","date_gmt":"2021-03-15T18:45:23","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/briwebapp.net\/cfgxfm\/?p=13560"},"modified":"2021-03-15T16:57:29","modified_gmt":"2021-03-15T20:57:29","slug":"the-view-from-here-how-you-doin","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/briwebapp.net\/cfgxfm\/blogs\/afternoons\/2021\/03\/the-view-from-here-how-you-doin\/","title":{"rendered":"The View From Here &#8211; How You Doin&#8217;?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>When I say &#8220;how you doing?&#8221; I hope you&#8217;re hearing the words of Joey from Friends.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-13561 alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/storage.briwebapp.net\/2021\/03\/7a982037-how-you-doin-300x168.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/>\u00a0His famous &#8220;how you doin&#8217;?&#8221; always made me smile.<\/p>\n<p>Back in the grey zone today.\u00a0 In my head this morning I was singing the words to the hokey pokey.\u00a0 \u00a0We keep moving in and out of coloured zones like it&#8217;s some sort of game.\u00a0 But there is no game, no prize.\u00a0 And like any good game of Monopoly &#8211; never ending.\u00a0 Unless someone cheats. (smile)<\/p>\n<p>Us Fox ladies have something in the works that I hope you will love.\u00a0 \u00a0We&#8217;re going to be bringing you a podcast.\u00a0 Eve, Sarah and myself will be sharing what&#8217;s on our minds and in our hearts as we continue through this pandemic.\u00a0 \u00a0Our first episode will reflect on the one year mark.\u00a0 How life has changed for us.<\/p>\n<p>As we prepared for the first podcast, there was a lot of reflecting on the past year.\u00a0 \u00a0What else is there to do, really?\u00a0 \u00a0(smile)<\/p>\n<p>Depending on the day and my mood, I think every day there is a different answer to &#8220;how you doing?&#8221;\u00a0 \u00a0 So many highs and lows and ups and downs.\u00a0 \u00a0All the feelings.<\/p>\n<p>I know for sure I am an emotional \/ stress eater.\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0I sat down last night and had TWO big pieces of home made lemon meringue pie.\u00a0 And enjoyed every bite.\u00a0 \u00a0That&#8217;s on top of the Popeye&#8217;s chicken sandwich on the weekend, followed up with a Shamrock Shake, the chips and the chocolate.\u00a0 Eating my feelings for sure.<\/p>\n<p>I sat in church this weekend, socially distant from everyone else.\u00a0 Feeling so alone in a row of chairs all by myself.\u00a0 And thinking, &#8220;When is this ever going to be OVER?&#8221;\u00a0 This Sunday we&#8217;re back to online.\u00a0 Again.<\/p>\n<p>I don&#8217;t know about you, but I&#8217;m really tired of online everything.\u00a0 I&#8217;m done with Zoom and Google Meets.\u00a0 \u00a0I think it&#8217;s painful to see my face on video.\u00a0 \u00a0We really just stare at our own face don&#8217;t we?\u00a0 And start to pick ourselves apart?\u00a0 The wrinkles?\u00a0 The double chin?\u00a0 (see above re: emotional\/ stress eating).<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;ve deleted most of my social media.\u00a0 \u00a0 Again.<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;ve gotten away from reaching out to people and staying connected.\u00a0 \u00a0It feels like there&#8217;s nothing new to say.\u00a0 &#8220;Yep, still working from home.&#8221;\u00a0 I have nothing new to contribute to any conversations.<\/p>\n<p>I do my best to stick to a regular routine like experts told us to do in the beginning.\u00a0 \u00a0Some days I&#8217;m a rock star and do all the things and feel really focused and on top of it.\u00a0 Other days I stare blankly out the window and try to understand why I feel sad or just &#8211; nothing.<\/p>\n<p>I sat outside this weekend with my winter coat and a blanket.\u00a0 \u00a0Just to be OUTSIDE.\u00a0 \u00a0I love my house, I do.\u00a0 But somedays I feel like it&#8217;s suffocating me.\u00a0 We bought new patio furniture this weekend and added a new light to the kitchen &#8211; and for a short period in time, it felt NORMAL.<\/p>\n<p>Doing normal, regular things.\u00a0 \u00a0Finding the light in the darkness so to speak.\u00a0 Trying to find a way to stay positive and hopeful.\u00a0 Just remember that everybody is feeling it and everybody is feeling it different. We all have to find a way to cope with what&#8217;s going on around us.\u00a0 For me, it&#8217;s baking, Schitt&#8217;s Creek on repeat, colouring my hair and avoiding people.\u00a0 (smile)\u00a0 \u00a0I found <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbc.ca\/parents\/learning\/view\/coping-through-covid\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">this article<\/a> interesting on how we all have a &#8220;thing&#8221; to help get us through these trying times.\u00a0 \u00a0And it&#8217;s ok.\u00a0 Whatever your &#8220;thing&#8221; is.<\/p>\n<p>We have to remember that we&#8217;re in it together.\u00a0 \u00a0Everybody is allowed to feel what they&#8217;re feeling and to find a way that helps them get through it.<\/p>\n<p>Keep being kind to each other.\u00a0 Keep supporting each other.\u00a0 Keep supporting those small businesses who are struggling so much right now.<\/p>\n<p>Here&#8217;s to the day we don&#8217;t have to worry about what colour zone we&#8217;re in.
