Did you see Sarah’s blog today<\/a>?\u00a0 Another video from the Holderness Family which kinda nails how so many of us (myself included) are feeling about returning to normal.\u00a0 Ready. But sooooo NOT ready at the same time.<\/p>\n

I can’t wait until restrictions are lifted and businesses are open and we can do things without fear.<\/p>\n

BUT<\/em> …………<\/p>\n

There’s a part of me that feels a bit of panic at the thought of just jumping back in to that old way of life.\u00a0 \u00a0I don’t feel ready.\u00a0 It’s been a year of working from home in comfy clothes for the most part.\u00a0 I’m not sure I remember how to go about life the way it used to be.\u00a0 \u00a0The closer we get to back to normal, the more I want to put my foot on the brake and scream “NOT YET!\u00a0 I’m not ready.”<\/p>\n

I don’t even know what the new normal will look like, and\u00a0I’m not even sure I want all of the “normal” back.\u00a0 \u00a0I don’t want the busy schedule or the frantic pace.\u00a0 I don’t want running around and a “busy” life.<\/p>\n

I know we’ve lived life afraid of this virus for the last year, but how many of us are starting to live afraid of returning to normal?\u00a0 Going back to work?\u00a0 Dressing up?\u00a0 Showering EVERY day?\u00a0 Is that still a thing people do?\u00a0 (kidding.\u00a0 kinda)\u00a0 \u00a0Maybe afraid isn’t the right word.\u00a0 Maybe, reluctant? Hesitant?<\/p>\n

What if I have FORGOTTEN how to do it?\u00a0 (smile)\u00a0 I am seriously<\/em> out of practice.<\/p>\n

I’ve enjoyed quiet mornings at home.\u00a0 \u00a0I’ve enjoyed the relaxed pace.\u00a0 I’ve enjoyed being able to not have to rush around anywhere.<\/p>\n

I think in the last year I have learned to appreciate the small things in life.\u00a0 I think I’ve learned what<\/em> matters and who<\/em> matters.\u00a0 \u00a0You can have a thousand “friends” on Facebook, but are they?<\/p>\n

In the last week I’ve cleaned up social media.\u00a0 I’ve resisted the scroll.\u00a0 \u00a0And maybe that’s because we are all so DONE with this pandemic right now, there’s nothing to post and nothing to see and nothing seems to feel important anymore.\u00a0 \u00a0I’ve realized I don’t need to share my life online.\u00a0 \u00a0I can do things, and NOT post about it.\u00a0 (smile)\u00a0 \u00a0I went through a bit of a withdrawal but feel better for it.<\/p>\n

I’ve learned to value those people in my life who reach out.\u00a0 That includes YOU.<\/em>\u00a0 \u00a0For all of you who have sent an email or text message or leave a comment on a Facebook post – I thank you for helping me feel not so alone in this.\u00a0 Some days it gets pretty lonely, working in my scrapbook room that is now an on air studio\/ home office.\u00a0 Except for my Nick Rhodes\/ Duran Duran Pop figure.\u00a0 But he’s pretty quiet and never talks back. (smile).\u00a0 \u00a0Maybe I need to add some of those fun cardboard cutouts to my home office – for fun.<\/p>\n

Which makes me wonder – who – if anybody – would I have join me for an afternoon?<\/p>\n

Duran Duran – in person – always welcome.<\/p>\n

Prince Harry?\u00a0 I’ve got an extra headset.<\/p>\n

Oprah.\u00a0 Michelle Obama.\u00a0 \u00a0My studio is your studio.\u00a0 We could have lots of conversations and lots of laughs.<\/p>\n

I know there are a lot of frustrations in our community.\u00a0 We all feel it.\u00a0 \u00a0I know people are broken and hurting.\u00a0\u00a0Lives have been lost.\u00a0\u00a0Jobs lost.<\/p>\n

Businesses struggling to keep the doors open and keep people working.<\/p>\n

Strained relationships.<\/p>\n

So much hardship.<\/p>\n

This pandemic has been hard on all of us in so many ways.\u00a0\u00a0I’m doing my best most days to stay positive and hopeful.\u00a0 Some days are just harder than others.<\/p>\n

I’ve been fighting to hang on to hope that this will be over soon.\u00a0 I hope you keep doing the same.\u00a0 We are all just trying to get to the other side of this.\u00a0 We are still in it together.<\/p>\n

Let’s keep being kind to each other.\u00a0 I know I sure do appreciate a smile from a stranger more than ever.\u00a0 \u00a0And I’ll be hoping for a smile and some understanding as we try to get back to some sort of normal.\u00a0 Because I know for me it’s probably going to be a challenge to get back out into the world again.\u00a0 Like waking up from a really long nap, and forgetting what day it is and where you are.<\/p>\n

It’s going to be an adjustment for a lot of us.<\/p>\n

So let’s keep being kind and doing what we can to understand and help each other through it.<\/p>\n

We all want it to be over.\u00a0 We all want to get back to life as we remember it.\u00a0 Maybe with a few tweaks here and there, and more dress down days at work.\u00a0 Just sayin’.<\/p>\n
