I know there’s nowhere to go.\u00a0 Nothing to pack.\u00a0 No travel plans.\u00a0\u00a0But, it’s still a long weekend and I cannot wait to take advantage of every minute NOT working and hopefully indulging in a whole lot of chocolate.\u00a0 Yes, Easter Bunny, I am talking to you and dropping some big hints.\u00a0 My house is ready for you to pay us a visit.\u00a0 \u00a0This girl needs some chocolate.\u00a0 \u00a0I won’t even be picky this year.\u00a0 You can bring me anything except those peeps things.\u00a0 How about those malted eggs.\u00a0 Yum.\u00a0 Chocolate foil eggs.\u00a0 A big chocolate bunny. Maybe one with those rice crisps.\u00a0 One of those Cadbury eggs.\u00a0 Yes please.\u00a0 \u00a0Anybody else remember when they were still covered in foil, and sometimes a piece of that got stuck to the creamy center and if you had a filling you sure knew if you got a piece of foil.\u00a0 (shivers).\u00a0 \u00a0So please, Mr. Bunny.\u00a0 \u00a0Help a girl out.<\/p>\n
I’ll even clean up a little.\u00a0 Which is something I have been avoiding a lot lately.<\/p>\n
Don’t judge.<\/p>\n
It’s hard to keep a house clean when nobody ever leaves.\u00a0 I used to love those days I’d have the house to myself and I could turn up the radio, and just go nuts cleaning the house.\u00a0 \u00a0It’s one of my favourite things to do.\u00a0 Some say cleaning is like therapy, and I understand why.\u00a0 \u00a0It’s a way of feeling in control over something especially when we have so little control over life right now.<\/p>\n
Yes, I miss my family.\u00a0 The idea of another month without seeing my dad makes me so sad.\u00a0 So please Easter Bunny – some chocolate is needed.\u00a0 \u00a0And maybe some bubbles and sidewalk chalk.\u00a0 Not for my kids.\u00a0 But for me.\u00a0 Because it reminds me of childhood.\u00a0 And those simple days.\u00a0 \u00a0When we were kids and didn’t worry about the world.<\/p>\n
I remember waking up on Easter Sunday and running to the kitchen to see what surprise awaited me from that busy little bunny.\u00a0 \u00a0One year was a big stuffed rabbit.\u00a0 I was so excited.\u00a0 The egg hunt was always a lot of fun and my parents did that for us no matter how old we got.<\/p>\n
It’s been a challenge to prepare for the Easter Bunny as my kids got older.\u00a0 And stayed up longer.\u00a0 \u00a0But at least now they sleep much later, so the bunny can take his sweet time hiding those eggs in our house.\u00a0 And no matter what, we are always finding at least one lost Easter egg months later.\u00a0 Which reminds me of something one of my former co-workers did one Easter. It’s fitting to share since today happens to be April Fool’s Day.\u00a0 One Easter,\u00a0 we were happy to find chocolate easter eggs hidden all over the radio station.\u00a0 Like children, we turned everything upside down.\u00a0 Looking in every cupboard, corner and desktop.\u00a0 \u00a0Racing each other to find the most eggs.<\/p>\n
Weeks later, we were still finding Easter eggs.\u00a0 But they were in the same spot we already found them.\u00a0 \u00a0Which was confusing.\u00a0 And made us think we were wrong about finding them there in the first place.\u00a0 We were “re-discovering” Easter Eggs for weeks, if not months, after.\u00a0 Until said co-worker finally fessed up.<\/p>\n
I know this year is not the same and it’s sure not what we expected or were hoping for.<\/p>\n
I hope you find a way to make the weekend special if you celebrate the Easter holiday.\u00a0 \u00a0So many churches offering online services.\u00a0 I love this story<\/a> of a woman that has been wearing her Sunday best for every online service through the pandemic.\u00a0 She is 82 years old and her selfies that she shares after every service are legendary.\u00a0 \u00a0Since March 29, 2020, she has taken photos of herself from her living room in 53 different color-coordinated outfits.\u00a0 The clothes, the jewelry and those beautiful big hats.\u00a0 She was already known for the outfits she wore every Sunday, and when the pandemic hit, she decided to up her game.\u00a0 I’ll think of her as I show up in my Sunday sweats.\u00a0 (smile)<\/p>\n Do something that makes you smile.\u00a0 \u00a0Eat the chocolate.\u00a0 \u00a0Do a Zoom call with friends and family.\u00a0 \u00a0Dress up.\u00a0 \u00a0Blow bubbles or scribble some sidewalk chalk.\u00a0 Fly a kite with the kids.<\/p>\n Read a book.\u00a0 Take a long hot bath.\u00a0 Write someone a letter.\u00a0 Phone someone you haven’t talked to in a long time.<\/p>\n I’m planning some time in my scrapbook room.\u00a0 Working on updating albums.\u00a0 Organizing.\u00a0 Again.<\/p>\n Hopefully we have some good weather for an adventure walk somewhere.<\/p>\n Make time for you and focus on what makes you smile.<\/p>\n Happy Easter.<\/p>\n Thank you for reading and for sharing.<\/p>\n Stay safe.\u00a0 Stay well.\u00a0 \u00a0Stay connected by sending me an email –<\/p>\n
