{"id":15797,"date":"2021-08-30T14:07:50","date_gmt":"2021-08-30T18:07:50","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/briwebapp.net\/cfgxfm\/?p=15797"},"modified":"2021-08-30T16:52:14","modified_gmt":"2021-08-30T20:52:14","slug":"the-view-from-here-its-ridiculous-really","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/briwebapp.net\/cfgxfm\/blogs\/afternoons\/2021\/08\/the-view-from-here-its-ridiculous-really\/","title":{"rendered":"The View From Here &#8211; It&#8217;s Ridiculous Really"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I can&#8217;t believe I&#8217;m afraid of bees.\u00a0 And spiders.\u00a0 And snakes.\u00a0 But I am.<\/p>\n<p>And deep water, and drowning, and heights and falling.\u00a0 And those grates and manhole covers, and elevators.\u00a0 \u00a0But that&#8217;s a conversation for another day.<\/p>\n<p>I feel like I&#8217;m a pretty strong, independent female.\u00a0 I can do hard things.\u00a0 I&#8217;ve gone through some serious life challenges.<\/p>\n<p>But if a bee comes near me &#8211; I am TERRIFIED.\u00a0 I freeze.\u00a0 I scream.\u00a0 I run.\u00a0 I&#8217;m not even exaggerating on that one.\u00a0 A bee.\u00a0 The size of a fingernail.\u00a0 And I run for the hills.<\/p>\n<p>Today, as I was getting ready for my workday, I stepped outside for a minute and a BEE followed me back inside the house and I knew I couldn&#8217;t just let him bee.\u00a0 Let me say, I love bees.\u00a0 I appreciate that they exist and they do wonderful things for us and the planet.\u00a0 But they don&#8217;t need to be in my house, or my personal space.\u00a0 Anybody driving with the windows open has never moved so fast to close the windows as they do when a bee comes near that open window.\u00a0 Seriously.\u00a0 There is NOTHING worse than an unwanted insect in your car while driving.\u00a0 \u00a0Do I just stop and abandon the vehicle?\u00a0 (smile)<\/p>\n<p>So it was me and the bee this morning in my house.<\/p>\n<p>My husband was working.\u00a0 So were my kids.\u00a0 I was ALONE.\u00a0 DANGER DANGER.<\/p>\n<p>Nobody to call for help.\u00a0 I considered leaving.\u00a0 (smile)\u00a0 but then that bee could be anywhere by the time I got home.\u00a0 He could be inviting his friends over.\u00a0 He could be planning my demise.\u00a0 Nobody should have to live with that kind of fear.<\/p>\n<p>So I rose to the challenge.\u00a0 \u00a0Heart racing.\u00a0 Movements quick.\u00a0 Trying to anticipate where he would fly next.\u00a0 Taking his time checking out every inch of my kitchen.\u00a0 Flying around randomly.\u00a0 Antagonizing me by the second.\u00a0 Teasing me.\u00a0 Laughing at my fear.\u00a0 Ridiculous, right?<\/p>\n<p>Anybody else feel incredibly silly being so scared of a bee or spider?<\/p>\n<p>I came face to face with a spider web yesterday morning, so that was fun.\u00a0 The only thing worse than hitting a spider web is wondering if you disturbed the spider, and if so, where was he and would he attack me in my sleep?<\/p>\n<p>Yep.\u00a0 Almost 50 years old.\u00a0 I&#8217;ve had three babies.\u00a0 I&#8217;ve dealt with all kinds of hard situations and challenges.\u00a0 But it&#8217;s a tiny bee in my house that brings me to my knees.<\/p>\n<p>Not sure where he went after I asked him to leave my house, but I&#8217;m pretty sure he&#8217;s still laughing with his little bee friends.\u00a0 Proud of himself for shaking me up, and scaring me as much as he did.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"I can&#8217;t believe I&#8217;m afraid of bees.\u00a0 And spiders.\u00a0 And snakes.\u00a0 But I am.
