My heart has been so heavy lately.\u00a0 I’ve been feeling so discouraged and defeated.\u00a0 Frustrated.\u00a0 Angry.\u00a0 Sad.\u00a0 \u00a0All the emotions.\u00a0 On repeat.<\/p>\n
It’s been a challenging year and a half and I had hoped by this point we would be at the finish line and we would be coming together and celebrating the fact that we made it.<\/p>\n
Instead, I feel more alone and more divided than ever and I hate it.\u00a0 \u00a0Spend any time online and on social media and you get stirred up all over again.<\/p>\n
So I have an idea and I’m hoping we can take this as a challenge together and turn things around.<\/p>\n
I want to start a kindness revolution.<\/p>\n
Yep.\u00a0 We got a lot of “STUFF” happening in the world and around us.\u00a0 \u00a0We’re still getting through a pandemic.\u00a0 We’re still dealing with safety protocols.\u00a0 Masks.\u00a0 Vaccinations.\u00a0 \u00a0Vaccination passports.\u00a0 And everybody has an opinion on how it should be and what should or shouldn’t happen.\u00a0 And that’s all good.\u00a0 Everyone can and should have their own feelings and thoughts and opinions.<\/p>\n
What I want to remember is who we are as a community.\u00a0 That same community that puts signs and hearts in windows at the beginning of this pandemic.\u00a0 \u00a0That same community that rallied together to make sure everyone was taken care of.\u00a0 \u00a0Whether it’s dropping off food or taking care of another need.<\/p>\n
This community has heart.\u00a0 \u00a0And that heart has done amazing things in the past.\u00a0 This community has stood up and stood together through so much. When there is a need, this community stands up and takes care of each other.<\/p>\n
Maybe we just need to remember that.<\/p>\n
Kindness.\u00a0 Compassion.\u00a0 Empathy.\u00a0 \u00a0That’s what makes this community great.\u00a0 That’s what makes this community strong.<\/p>\n
So I want to start a kindness revolution.<\/p>\n
I want to get back to the positive things.\u00a0 \u00a0Doing things for others.\u00a0 \u00a0Being thankful for someone who did something good for you or someone you know.<\/p>\n
I can get really down after reading comments and stories online, but I can tell you this – when I pass someone on the street when out walking, and they smile and say hello – I feel good!\u00a0 I smile back and my day gets better.<\/p>\n
Kindness.<\/p>\n
It’s as easy as a smile from a stranger.<\/p>\n
Random emails or texts from listeners that say hi, or thank you.\u00a0 Those are the BEST.<\/p>\n
Encouragement from a friend that can show up out of the blue on one of my worst days.\u00a0 Can change my whole day and outlook.<\/p>\n
We live in this amazing community that does things like that ALL the time and I want us to start sharing them.<\/p>\n
I want to remember all that’s good right now and focus on that.<\/p>\n
Kindness comes in all forms.\u00a0 Letting someone ahead of you in line at the grocery store.\u00a0 Paying for someone’s coffee in the drive thru line.\u00a0 \u00a0Holding open a door.\u00a0 Cutting the neighbours grass.\u00a0 \u00a0Dropping off a sweet treat for a friend or neighbour who is going through a hard time.\u00a0 Smiling at a stranger.\u00a0 Donating to a cause that matters to you.\u00a0 Calling a friend.\u00a0 \u00a0Sending a message to someone just to let them know you’re thinking of them.<\/p>\n
So many ways.<\/p>\n
Let’s flood social media with kindness.<\/p>\n

Let’s remember just how amazing this community is when we stand together and with each other and take care of each other.<\/p>\n
