I admit it.\u00a0 I’m a bit of a dork.\u00a0 And that’s alright with me.\u00a0 I always have been.\u00a0 I expect that will never change.\u00a0 Even when I hit 50.\u00a0 Gasp.<\/p>\n

I am days away from my 50th birthday, feeling excited and a bit in awe.\u00a0 \u00a0Doing lots of reflecting.\u00a0 Feeling a bit “old”.\u00a0\u00a0\"\"\"\"<\/p>\n

Remember when we were kids and we thought our parents were OLD?\u00a0 Remember when we thought our teachers were OLD?\u00a0 Now WE are the old folks.\u00a0 (smile)<\/p>\n

I know age is just a number.\u00a0 It’s how you feel that counts.\u00a0\u00a0Feeling oh so thankful.\u00a0 For so many things.\u00a0 \u00a0I kinda love that my birthday almost ALWAYS falls on Thanksgiving weekend.\u00a0 \u00a0I’m always reminded of just how grateful I am for so many things.\u00a0 I am thankful for the people in my life, my job, my home and asking for prayers in advance for what we have to go through in a few months when we rip out our kitchen and live through a renovation.\u00a0 (smile)\u00a0 I’ve met some really cool people and done some really cool things in my life.\u00a0 I’ve survived a lot, overcome a lot, and worked through some stuff.<\/p>\n

I’m thinking of my mom a LOT as I get closer to this milestone.\u00a0 I miss her.\u00a0 So much.\u00a0 I always think of my mom on my birthday.\u00a0 She always made birthdays special, and to be real, I wouldn’t be here without her.<\/p>\n

I miss what would have been.\u00a0 Like the conversations we could have had about getting old.\u00a0 (smile).\u00a0 I feel like I missed a lot of big stuff.\u00a0 Maybe she could have shed some light on the changes happening right now.\u00a0 (smile) Hot flashes?\u00a0 Please.\u00a0 Explain why this is a thing.<\/p>\n

I feel like something big is coming.\u00a0 Like this is the end of an era and the beginning of something new and exciting.<\/p>\n

It’s going to start with something I used to dream of doing.\u00a0 I thought about doing it. I just never had the courage to actually DO the thing.<\/p>\n

But when I talk to you again on Monday I’ll get to share my latest attempt to fight the dork image.\u00a0 Ha ha ha.\u00a0 Kidding.\u00a0 \u00a0Kinda.<\/p>\n

50 feels like a transition.\u00a0 Like, ok, what happened in the first 49 years and what can I do NOW?\u00a0 How can I get better?\u00a0 What can I learn?\u00a0 How can I grow?\u00a0 What can I do that I haven’t done and still want to in the next 50?\u00a0 How do I get out of burpees and cardio to keep that “healthy” attitude going?\u00a0 (smile)<\/p>\n

I’m curious as to what the future holds.\u00a0 \u00a0Time flies a lot faster the older you get.\u00a0 \u00a0Now there’s a greater appreciation for every day.\u00a0 A realization that once today is gone, there is no getting it back.<\/p>\n

Life is way to short to wait for tomorrow, or to put things off.<\/p>\n

So let’s get ready for 50.<\/p>\n

Any advice appreciated.<\/p>\n
