My oldest daughter has been wanting to see this movie since we first heard it was being made.\u00a0 We’ve been counting down the days, waiting for it to finally hit theatres.<\/p>\n
Finally, this weekend we bought our tickets.\u00a0 So excited.\u00a0 We got dressed up.\u00a0 She did my makeup.<\/p>\n
Overall – it was good, but it was LONG.\u00a0 Almost three hours in the theatre long.\u00a0 \u00a0Eating the entire bag of popcorn and two bags of candy long.\u00a0 Too long.<\/p>\n
My daughter didn’t love it.\u00a0 And she loves musicals.\u00a0 \u00a0She thought it was too long, and a lot of things didn’t make sense to her.\u00a0 She did love the songs though – she had learned them from a Glee episode way back when.<\/p>\n
I cried.\u00a0 The message was meaningful.\u00a0 \u00a0Love is stronger than hate.\u00a0 Love doesn’t discriminate.\u00a0 Love doesn’t choose sides.\u00a0\u00a0It’s like a Romeo and Juliet type situation.\u00a0 \u00a0Two people – on different sides – fall in love and will do anything to be together.\u00a0 So much to this movie.\u00a0 Told in song and dance.<\/p>\n
A lot of history behind this movie.\u00a0 A Broadway musical.\u00a0 A movie first in the early sixties.\u00a0 The message remains the same. The division is something we are dealing with even today, maybe for different reasons.\u00a0\u00a0The Jets.\u00a0 The Sharks.\u00a0 \u00a0Each trying to claim their place.\u00a0 Fighting each other every step of the way.<\/p>\n
So much talent in this movie, directed by Steven Spielberg.\u00a0 The acting.\u00a0 The drama.\u00a0 The fights.\u00a0 The violence.\u00a0 The message.\u00a0 So good.<\/p>\n
Would I watch it again?\u00a0 Nope.\u00a0 But I’m so glad I got to experience it.<\/p>\n
