{"id":16934,"date":"2022-01-05T10:49:13","date_gmt":"2022-01-05T15:49:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/briwebapp.net\/cfgxfm\/?p=16934"},"modified":"2022-01-05T11:19:00","modified_gmt":"2022-01-05T16:19:00","slug":"the-view-from-here-not-ok","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/briwebapp.net\/cfgxfm\/blogs\/afternoons\/2022\/01\/the-view-from-here-not-ok\/","title":{"rendered":"The View From Here &#8211;  Not OK"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>How are you doing today?\u00a0 Because I&#8217;m not doing okay.\u00a0 I am back to working from home part time and I have been staring out the window for the last fifteen minutes trying to figure out what is happening and how I feel.\u00a0 I sure don&#8217;t feel okay.<\/p>\n<p>How are we here right now?\u00a0 How are we back to restrictions after almost two years of trying to &#8220;flatten the curve&#8221;?\u00a0 After all that we&#8217;ve been doing.\u00a0 We&#8217;ve adapted to changing situations over and over and over again.\u00a0 We are worn out.\u00a0 Exhausted.\u00a0 Physically.\u00a0 Mentally.\u00a0 Emotionally worn out. So done with this never ending pandemic that keeps throwing curve balls at us.<\/p>\n<p>So no.\u00a0 I am not okay today.<\/p>\n<p>The number of people in hospital right now is concerning.\u00a0 What this is doing to our health care workers is concerning.<\/p>\n<p>They are exhausted from trying to keep up in taking care of those in need, while also trying to take care of themselves and family as well.\u00a0 \u00a0It&#8217;s too much.\u00a0 \u00a0The letter that was released from Bluewater Health last night took my breath away.\u00a0 I thought we were in the home stretch with this.\u00a0 I thought we were finally seeing the light at the end of the tunnel.<\/p>\n<p>Nope.\u00a0 I&#8217;m not okay today.<\/p>\n<p>I feel for the restaurant owners and staff who have to adapt again and close dining rooms.\u00a0 Gyms.\u00a0 \u00a0Other businesses that have done nothing but adapt and re-adjust.\u00a0 &#8220;Pivot!&#8221;\u00a0 Suddenly I hear the voice of Ross Geller from that Friends episode where they are struggling to get a couch up the stairs.<\/p>\n<p>Kids are back to remote learning leaving parents of young kids struggling to juggle their work with their kids schooling and it is HARD on everyone.\u00a0 Our kids, the teachers and the parents trying to make it all work.<\/p>\n<p>For today I&#8217;m done with the positive attitude perspective.\u00a0 Today I think I will wallow a little.\u00a0 I think today I will sit and let the emotions take control.\u00a0 \u00a0Eat that box of chocolates left over from Christmas.<\/p>\n<p>I made my bed and got a workout in this morning before work.\u00a0 Two things I&#8217;ve been doing through this whole pandemic.\u00a0 It&#8217;s two things that help me feel in control of something and normal.\u00a0 I love my morning workout for that reason.\u00a0 All I&#8217;m thinking about is the moves in the program and not worrying about cases and hospitalizations.<\/p>\n<p>And can I make a suggestion?\u00a0 Let people feel how they feel.\u00a0 I don&#8217;t want to be told that what I am feeling is wrong.\u00a0 I don&#8217;t want to be told I&#8217;m wrong for thinking a certain way or feeling afraid or nervous or unsure of what&#8217;s to come. I don&#8217;t want to be told to think positive or &#8220;it&#8217;s not that bad&#8221;.\u00a0 \u00a0I don&#8217;t want to be told I&#8217;m wrong for not being okay with this.<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;m thinking of all the people working hard to get us through this.\u00a0 I&#8217;m thinking of all the doctors and health care workers and every other person working behind the scenes in the hospital right now.\u00a0 \u00a0I&#8217;m thinking of all the people who have loved ones in a hospital bed and I&#8217;m thinking of all those who are hurting and worn out by the mind games this pandemic has played with us.\u00a0 \u00a0I&#8217;m thinking of all the parents who are struggling to go to work and get their kids to show up for school online.\u00a0 I&#8217;m thinking of all the business owners trying to keep their doors open and staff working.<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s a LOT and it&#8217;s okay to not be okay with it.<\/p>\n<p>We all want this to be over and see restrictions lifted and the fear of getting sick or loved ones dying GONE.<\/p>\n<p>Today let yourself be.\u00a0 Be good to yourself.\u00a0 Be kind to yourself.\u00a0 Remind yourself that you are doing the best you can in the moment.\u00a0 Nobody has been through what we are going through right now.
