I feel like a new parent again.\u00a0 Our little Maggie May, the latest edition to our family, is proving to be a challenge.\u00a0 But in the very best of ways.\u00a0 I forgot how busy puppies were.\u00a0 And how very sharp their teeth are.\u00a0 I also didn’t know their eyes change colours as they get older sometimes, like babies do.\u00a0 Her eyes were blue when we brought her home.\u00a0 Now they’re a beautiful green\/brown colour.<\/p>\n
She is a husky\/lab mix and is just shy of three months old.\u00a0 She is busy.\u00a0 Boy is she busy.\u00a0 \u00a0It’s been a long time since I’ve had to “child proof” a home.\u00a0 Now I’m doing it all over again for a puppy who seems to find the smallest of things to chew on.<\/p>\n
We’re hiding shoes and slippers.\u00a0 Some are placed up high on chairs and tables.\u00a0 An odd shoe here and there that she manages to find and drag from room to room.\u00a0 She has her own toys.\u00a0 She just seems to love our stuff more.<\/p>\n
We have nose prints on our back door.\u00a0 We have paw prints all through the house.\u00a0 And if I try to sweep, she attacks the broom.\u00a0 If I try to mop she attacks that too.\u00a0 It seems the broom is a toy for her to chase around.\u00a0 Catching the pile of dirt seems to be even more fun.\u00a0 An endless cycle of trying to clean up around her.\u00a0 \u00a0The mop is her enemy.\u00a0 She actually barks at it.\u00a0 Not sure what the difference is.\u00a0 We find our clothes stolen and hidden under the bed.\u00a0 Always a surprise. (smile)<\/p>\n
Either way, to look at the house right now, you can’t help but laugh at the destruction she leaves behind.\u00a0 (smile).\u00a0 It’s all good.<\/p>\n
I’ve grown incredibly attached to this little fur baby who is growing oh so quickly.\u00a0 She’s learned to sit and shake a paw – which has us gushing like proud parents.\u00a0 \u00a0She loves to walk and chase leaves that blow in the wind and seems to love pinecones.<\/p>\n
And she’s developed a love of “pruning” my plants.\u00a0 By that I mean she loves to chomp on them.\u00a0 And the dirt they grow in.\u00a0 I have enough trouble keeping plants alive in my care.<\/p>\n
But she is adorable.\u00a0 And growing too fast.<\/p>\n
I love to have her come running to the door when I come home at the end of the day, or when she comes running when I wake up and come walking down the stairs, even if she’s chewing the bottom of my pj pants the whole way – the best feeling ever.<\/p>\n
In a time where there’s so much going on around us, getting Maggie May was the best decision ever.\u00a0 She brings so much happiness to our home.\u00a0 Pretty sure our cat would disagree on that.\u00a0 But he’ll come around eventually.\u00a0 (smile) She brings so much love.\u00a0 Even if she shows it most by biting everything around her right now, including us.\u00a0 (smile)<\/p>\n
